It may be something to do with the fact that Microsoft keep wanting to update my computer and it never works after they have, so I have to uninstall their updates, and I now turn my computer off at the main switch to shut it down to avoid having to go through the three reboots every time I want to use my computer. There is no option if you use their "update and shut down" dialogue on the main menu. I've tried contacting them to no avail. I've tried a fresh install but that ends up going the same way.< id="BFI_" style="width: 1px; height: 1px; display: none;">
All the best. Roy

Used to be that shift click was a way to skip those - although... there is always the option to simply use a live USB stick installation of something

Weird. Shift click turned the computer off but the main hard drive was still running (it's light was on) but the usb items turned off as well. (normally these stay live so you can charge stuff) I had to turn it on again by pressing the start button on the case as though it was fully shut down though. It came back OK with all the programs I had running, so I suspect that Microsoft might be able to interfere with it as they seem to have a 24 hour cycle where they try and install stuff. I sometimes leave my computer and when I come back to it, it's frozen, and that's when I have to use auto repair to get it running properly again. (The screen is just black) I know it's when they try and update the video drivers for my Intel processor which won't let the computer run unless I have the video part of the processor disabled in device manager. I suspect it's a conflict between the AMD drivers for my main video cards. (Yes I have the latest AMD drivers) I have tried telling Microsoft about this multiple times and I am not the only person with this problem, but to no avail. All the best. Roy
