Inspired by Will Cook's splendid efforts at arranging social rides in Cambridgeshire (I went along to one last week) I thought I'd show anybody interested some of the local scenery around here...
It won't be fast - pace will be that of whoever happens to be slowest. I'd guess 12MPH or so.
There are some hills (some up and some down...)
Doesn't matter what you ride - Recumbents are not compulsory... If the weather is grotty I might well be on the old mountain bike with mudguards etc...

The roads will be mostly quiet lanes - no off-road stuff but a couple of cattle grids to cross.

There is a large free car park at the start (Gadebridge Park, Hemel Hempstead).

Planning to leave Gadebridge Park at 9am (don't forget the clocks go back the night before!)

Post code for the park is HP1 3AQ
but I think it will probably take you to the wrong side of the park. You actually want the car park entrance which is just off the Leighton Buzzard Road (A4146)

Heavy rain here at the moment but forecast is better for tomorrow.
Mudguards may be advisable!
Not sure how many people will turn up - some from the Hemel Cyclists Facebook group hopefully.
I'll probably be on an upwrong with mudguards etc but will see what it's like in the morning.

Many thanks to everyone who came along today - Especially Brian who came all the way from Cambridge to join us... Really enjoyed the ride... https://www.strava.com/activities/420064599

Monumental piece of luck with one of the Hemel Facebook group guys breaking a chain pretty much outside a little cycle/E-Bike shop that happened to be open on a Sunday!!

Great cycle outing and thanks Alan for organizing.

The weather was perfect, and it is nice countryside round there. Many high points, seeing where the great train robbery happened was one (there was no blue plaque on the bridge). The e-bike was amazing, mind you he needed it to keep up with Alan going up those hills.

Well done to the guys on uprights some who had not been out on longer tours.

Brian - 'Atlas Shrugged' came up in Only Connect last night (a programme I don't normally watch) - a novel by Ayn Rand apparently - are you a fan?

Finally got the video of Sunday's ride to upload to Youtube but it's rubbish quality for some reason... Gives the general idea though...
