We (BPCC) were quoted £150 all in for Wombwell (use of buildings, water, power and toilets included), two years ago. And told by the track secretary that she'd "like to see it in use every weekend" because it's there and it's a shame to have it stood doing nothing when it can't be noisy. That was based on all-day use, i.e. 6 hours of race with access for a couple of hours either side for arrival and departure stuff. So the cost for a couple of 40-60 minute races might be negotiable (downwards!). Or it might not! None of which makes the blindest difference if your desired date isn't available or "just north of Sheffield" is deemed to be too far away from too many people to be worth a try. But from inspection it looks like a lovely circuit. |

Because there is something very troubling to my heart.
In all the years that we've been friends, England and Jersey, they have never invited us to thier house for tea and cakes, coffee, a gnu...

In an attempt to find an track plan / aerial photo, I went looking for the postcode of the track. I found this address on the gov.je site: Education, Sport and Culture PO Box 142 Highlands Campus Jersey JE4 8QJ (Admittedly, not the venue, but it's a start) Put that postcode into google maps and it has no idea. Put it into multimap and you get a location about 50 miles west of the Scilly Isles. So it might get declared a wet race... More amusingly, although multimap will happily assure you that that's the location you're looking for, ask it for direections (from anywhere) and it tells you it can't navigate to your chosen destination. |

Could only find one aerial photo - from google earth so it's a bit fuzzy:
Here's the kml file if you want the tour of the 1 mile circuit. As for jersey postcodes and somewhere west of the Scilly Isles - it would explain why the post to the UK takes so long! Jes - you're welcome to pop in any time. Edited by McDee - 24 May 2007 at 10:34pm |

I'm trying to plan some of my non-racing weekends (mostly involving even more BEER than weekend away at a BHPC race entails), and if the Comp.Sec. has answers to a couple of questions, they would help the process. 1) There has been talk of a final race at Herne Hill. Is this happening or, if we don't know for sure, how likely is it to happen? When would it be? And would it be for POINTS?
2) The "Results so far page" indicates that each rider's worst four results will be dropped again this year. Is this correct? And will it be correct whether or not there's a Herne Hill (or other additional) race?

There will be a last race though whether at Herne Hill or Hillingdon or on the river at Henley, is yet to be sorted. Cost might have a part to play here.
I would have thought that it ought to be a points event since we haven't said it wouldn't so points it is by precedent.
If you want to keep 4 drops then it will have to be a points event.
Will be back in the UK in a weeks time (currently suffering from Fjords and scary beer prices in Norway) and will get it sorted then.

Good to hear there 'will' be another race. Even with that we're still one down on the usual 12-race programme - not good for those of us not venturing to foreign parts this year. On the other hand, a good year for those of lacking a sensible bike due to major mechanical failure...
Despite a natural interest in the 'on the river' option I too would vote for Hillingdon, if the choice exists. |
