I'd really like to race on a town centre circuit, looks very exciting. | and you can! On sunday 24th of May there will be a 1.2 mile town centre circuit in St Helier, Jersey. A web page with more information about this, and the other events for HPVs that weekend will be available shortly . . . |
In the meantime, here's an aerial photo of the course for the BHPC race:

See below for an update on the current position. All of these are now either confirmed or, at the very least, I'm just waiting for final written confirmation of the venue accepting our booking. All being well, then, the dates and venues will be as below. All are as the provisional calendar I posted at the beginning of this thread except that I couldn't get either of the dates I wanted for Hillingdon. The September event at Hillingdon has had to come forward a week to 6th. For the early-season date, I just couldn't get a suitable slot at Hillingdon. I know many of you like the circuit, and I would gladly have had two events there, but it just didn't work out; sorry. In order to keep it handy for the South East, I've booked Reading instead.
All events are for racing to start at the usual 11.00, except for Curborough, where we may not have the track until 13.00.
Date Venue April 26 Castle Combe May 10 Reading
May 23 or 24 Jersey (Keith Davis) June 13 Fowlmead I June 14 Fowlmead II July 11 Salt Ayre, Lancaster July 12 Preston Sports Arena July 26 Darley Moor August 9 Quibell Park, Scunthorpe August 22 Curborough (from 13.00) September 6 Hillingdon October 4 Redbridge (Hog Hill) + AGM

Worth noting that there are now two clashes with BPCC events...
10th May and 6th September.
I realise that it's not easy to fit it all in and I think Adrian has done a great job with a good mix of circuits...
Unfortunately Reading and Hillingdon are our nearest circuits and we'll be pedal car racing on those days...
I'm planning to do a full season of pedal car racing next year but I'm still hoping to get to as many BHPC events as possible...
Plenty to look forward to over winter!!

Well done, Adrian - now all we need are some volunteers to organise racing...
Judith and I will be happy to do Hog Hill, our "home" circuit.

Yes, well done - next year's race calendar looks good. Put me down to organise at Preston.

Yes. It's surprising how congested a whole six months can get once you throw in a few constraints. As Alan clearly realises, I did try to avoid clashing with BPCC events (and other national/international ones CTC rally, Cyclevision, etc.), but couldn't avoid these two.
I've learnt a few lessons in the process of putting together the 2009 calendar. Now, if enough of you are kind to me and volunteer to organisate races, I may be persuadable to keep the job on and try to do better still for 2010. Thanks to Nick and Judith and to Keith for volunteering already. I think I know who'll do Lancaster, too.
Who's up for any of the others?
I have a special request regarding Fowlmead. It would be useful if someone who can visit the circuit, or at least - unlike me - has been there, could suggest variations for using the track over the two days.

I'll do Hillingdon as it's my local. Will need full training but will have the whole season to pick it up, Andy
