A sparkly new replacement cable with a tougher casing has now been ordered from a custom-cable maker in Germany.

Random thoughts on this: 1) While it would have been interesting to see his performance on his DF bike, it would have muddied the issue they were trying to demonstrate by introducing familiarity and training variables. I'm sure he'd have sailed round the hairpin on it compared to any of the other machines. 2) Pleased that my time was faster than he managed on the Raptobike :) 3) It was a shame that they didn't show more of the BHPC racing in general, but it wasn't a particularly exciting race, and the size of the Darley Moor track means it's hard to get good footage with a single camera. I expect the weather was an additional constraint. 4) While I'd have liked to have seen more of the variety of machines (the tandem barely featured, for example), I suppose the emphasis fits the aerodynamics narrative. (And means we didn't come across as too correx-beards-and-gaffer-tape for their core audience: Well done David for looking the part.) 5) Spot-the-technical-inaccuracy... 6) Comedy subtitles. Someone who doesn't know what a fairing is has obviously gone to the effort to time them properly. My Streetmachine weighs 24kg, does that make it a fully-fed recumbent bicycle? :) One of the Youtube comments suggests that they follow up with an item about riding recumbents on-road. That sounds like an excellent idea - could segue past the usual safety and climbing ability discussions into the comfort, accessibility and fun reasons that most of us actually ride recumbents for in the real world. Anyway, thanks to Barney and co for making this possible. |

Don't want to sound naggy, but it looks like the championship tables have not been updated yet, I keep checking on an almost daily basis and just wondered if it may have been overlooked, thanks, lee.

The GCN recumbent video was excellent. Well done to Barney who I thought spoke clearly, and gave good instructions. A bit of a TV talent coming out there.
The program left plenty of room for a part 2. Well done to GCN and all the BHPC folks involved in making this happen. |

Cracking GCN video, well done Barney and all involved, sorry I couldn’t have be there.
It came across very well, well shot in difficult conditions and well edited and mostly a positive spin on what could have been edited in a very different way. It’ll be interesting to see if it results in a higher attendance at the next races. Andrew has there been any increase in website traffic? Russ Edited by russellbridge - 27 August 2019 at 1:33pm |

Has anyone seen the latest video from GCN Tech in which two of their presenters spend several minutes discussing the pros and cons of recumbents, although neither of them have riden one? Perhaps we should invite them along to one of our meetings to "put their pedals where their mouths are" ! Stuart
