I seem to have volunteered to organise this one too, so:

Round 1:  100m flying sprint clockwise.  Testing out the sprint timing system again, this time with tape-switches in the hope of detecting skinny-tyred unfaired machines properly, and a proper long cable without any dodgy adaptors.  I'm not expecting spectacular speeds given the limited straight, but it should be fun anyway.  Fall-back option of a 1-lap time trial in case of technical problems.

Round 2: 90min + 1 lap anti-clockwise.  All riders together.

Times to be confirmed - I'm not sure when the booking runs for?

Important Hull note:  There's no public water tap anywhere on site (yes, really - apparently it's not a legal requirement), and the staff at the leisure centre quickly tire of filling water bottles in their office.  So make sure you bring plenty of water.

It appears that the one thing we won't be short of is water...

There’s a water fountain in the gym in the leisure centre - easy to access - walk through the leisure centre past reception and the gym is on the left

There's also a water fountain over Hull. Maybe we should just award points in order of people daring to get out of their cars...

I think David deserves a trophy for turning up with no car at all and cycling back to the station after that race

Agreed.  David really earned the car-free points today!

Honorary awards for being the first to get out of the car in the pissing rain go to Tim Macdonald (1st place), Gerry Charlwood (2nd place) and Dan Bergonzi (3rd place).

Heather wins the award for most appropriately dressed.  Russell wins the award for least appropriately dressed.  David gets the special award for shiniest trousers.  Alan wins the special award for best umbrella dance.

And the Acer Aspire 5 wins the award for most expensive piece of kit that somehow didn't get damaged by being dripped on (it's been running something CPU-intensive for a couple of hours to ensure it's properly dried out).  Runner-up prize to the tapeswitches, which performed admirably in adverse conditions.  A couple of parameter tweaks and a minor UI bug aside, it appears we indeed have a fully functional sprint timing system.

I've updated the flying sprint results to include Sherif and Jochen, whose attempts didn't get automagically included due to *handwaves* insufficient tweaking of RFID parameters.  Belatedly, I realise that the video system is triggered by the timer independently of the tag reads, specifically so we can work out whose times they are in the event of RFID chaos.  It does however require remembering to go and look.

Kim's list of awards from the weekend boat racing is an excellent reminder that we're looking for contributions for this season's magazines. Plenty to say about Hull!

You can add as few as a couple of words, or a sentence or something longer. Thanks to everyone who provided some words last season!
