Sign-on for York is now for members (non-member sign-on starts in the same place in a week's time (June 12th). York Cycle Festival (Rally) is on the same weekend at Knavesmire, next to York Racecourse. BHPC will be there with a stand - come and see us, bring your bike(s) and say hello. Racing is on Sunday on the road circuit at York Cycle Village. We're not using the velodrome this year.

Looks like everybody has taken a step back and I'm left stood proud having volunteered to organise.
I'm looking at a 1hr, then a 1 lap tt then round it off with a 30 minute, assuming we have the track midday until 4pm. All running together. Need to check with Kim to ensure that is feasible, but it's in line with last years format.

Many thanks Ian!!
Only 15 entries so far and no juniors, so I think all in one might be ok. My van is hopefully being fixed on Thursday morning and I’m not tempting fate by entering before it’s done. 🤞🤞

Yeah, I reckon it's reasonable to put everyone in together given the low numbers. Is there anyone who isn't racing who can help me with launching and catching the Notso?

Now up to 24 entries. Should we consider splitting the field?

23 actually - Dave Thomlinson has cancelled. I think 25 is probably a safe maximum field, given the length and width of the track. However it depends a bit on the make-up of the field - a high proportion of hefty streamliners with limited visibility and you might want to cut it down a bit. A tricky boundary case.

A couple of late streamliner/velomobile entries (Russ, Lee and Martin) so it could get very busy in that hairpin!
I haven’t raced on that track before so I’ll leave the final decision to those that know but if in doubt I’d say go with the safer option.

I'm inclined to split now, suggesting the following format for more experienced hands to assess viability of timings:
How about fast then slow 45 m plus 1 lap clockwise,
30 minute fast then slow anticlockwise 1 lap TT anti- clockwise, running the TT
anti-clockwise will keep line of riders waiting in clear view by riders on the
track coming around the hairpin (relatively slowly) and up to the start finish
line. Latest timings as I suggest keeping the flow going,
there will still be enough time to recover, eat and drink: 12:30 slow 45 min plus 1 – clockwise 13:30 fast 45 min plus 1 – clockwise 14:30 slow 30 min plus1 anti-clockwise 15:15 fast 30 min plus1 anti-clockwise 16:00 time trial seeded fast to slow on times of 30 min race anti-clockwise, this will give recovery time for fast racers that have
recently finished their 30 minutes (if things run late then scrub TT). Should all be done and dusted by 17:00. EDIT: Points will be awarded in merit of duration, and need to be confirmed, possibly 60% 30% and 10%. Edited by Yanto - 19 June 2025 at 8:34pm |
