The more I think about it, the more sense it is making to run it primarily as a team relay event. With a limit of, say 50 riders on the track, that can only cater for 50 individuals, but with a 4 up team, that could be as many as 200, which would be a much more efficient way of bringing more people to a small circuit. More people means more odd machines, which would be good for local media interest. It would be more accessable for locals who are either keen cyclists or charity fundraisers and again, a team event would cater bigger numbers. It would make for a better event atmosphere too. It still doesn't exclude soloists either.

I don't intend it to be only for BHPC members. I intend it to be for anyone that wants a go. BHPC is the only structure that allows this. BHPC doesn't have to subsidise it's non members. A premium can be charged to non BHPC members.

This is going to need a response from BHPC members if it's going to run as a BHPC event, so please let us know if you want it to happen...

Definitely.

I have nothing in the pipeline for the August Bank Holiday weekend.  Indeed, it was already on my list of dates to avoid, following negative feedback from some members over the timing of this year's Fowlmead event, which clashed with the Mildenhall Rally

I'd be up for it. Might be able to get a team of moulton upright riders together for a bit of variety.

You could do both, as long as you don't mind missing the Saturday of Mildenhall Rally. This has to start on a Friday (because of the car boot sale at MK Bowl every Sunday) so you'd be finished on Saturday. It's about 70 miles from MK Bowl to Mildenhall.

I'll have done 1800km in the week before getting home on the Monday, 2 nightshifts at work on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Great prep for a 24 lol
The legs may work for a ride to Mildenhall after all that Confused

Sounds like excellent preparation to me. I've been riding 24 hour TTs for over a decade now. My best ever ride was about 3 days after I finished testing AUKs 1400km London Edinburgh London route out. I also had to ride to and from the route, so I actually rode about 1540kms. Then I had to ride the 135 miles to Chester the day before the 24, then from Chester to the start of the 24, so in total about 1800kms in the week leading up to the event, maybe more.
I beat my best by 26 miles, then rode back to Chester. Next day I rode about 200kms to near Doncaster then spent the next few days helping at the Thorne control on the London Edinburgh London event.

So, don't worry, it'll be OK.Big smile
