These have some great details in them. They're better than the WHPSC video feed which is just the competitors and organisers chatting in a room.
It looks a bit like the Cygnus has a combined periscope and air intake. Velociraptor is quite a bike. I wonder if there's a separate prone record?

Newses:

New arm-powered record for Greg Westlake in the Avos Arrow - 45.68 mph on Tuesday.  He's subsequently gone faster, including a 47.14 on Thursday night, but not with legal wind.

Velociraptor's frame b0rked during test runs on Wednesday afternoon; the team left Thursday am for the long trek back to West Virginia.

The black Mustang will reach 113 mph inside half a mile before hitting the speed limiter.  Jonathan's Dodge Challenger does much the same.  In fact the fastest car here is probably Scott Wilson's crappy Kia, which will do 122 Cry

Here is a cow I saw earlier today:

A good second session on Thursday evening.  Legal wind throughout.  72+ mph for Barbara Buatois and Todd Reichert, 80.23 for the Whittingham and a storming 80.54 for Sebastiaan Bowier in Human Power Team Delft's new bike, VeloX.  We could be in for a good finale, weather permitting.

More Stuff later, Stuff fans...

It must be disheartening to have frame fail, hope it wasn't at speed. 80.54 is really impressive. I think that's the first official run over 80mph by someone other than Whittingham. That must be a new European record.
You neglected to mention how fast the cow went.

Yep, 80.54 puts the European record back in the hands of a Bloke for the first time in a few years and yes, Sebastiaan is only the second person to exceed 80.  The cow was proceeding at a gentle amble.

Some fairly heavy rain overnight with the road still damp this morning.  No wind but it was very humid, and a few people had problems with their windscreens fogging up. Chief timer Jun Nogami made a guest appearance in Vortex, the University of Toronto bike, and decked it fairly comprehensively at about 40 mph when he tried to give it some welly.  The bike is still ridable but has a split in the fairing.  The first place results are posted is on Jun's blog: Biking in a Big City.

I couldn't take photos this morning as I was looking after radios and driving the sweep car, in order to give Jonathan an opportunity to see the bikes going flat out; I'll be doing the same tonight.  We've just tried to upload Jonathan's pics to my Babbage-Engine, but the latter declined to speak to the camera, so he's gone in search of anyone whose Babbage-Engine speaks Canon.

Fastest run this morning was Ron Layman in Primal 2 at 64+ mph; David Verbroekken in Cygnus was only slightly slower and well over the 100 km/h mark for the first time for him.

Weather doesn't seem to be able to make up its mind at the moment; it's warming up but there's still a lot of cloud cover.  Now I need to purchase essential supplies, including "gas", BEER and socks.

Yon 'cow' is a bullock, probably part Hereford!

But then I wouldn't know the difference between a Mustang and a Challenger, except one is an old fighter and 'tother's a tank.

Thanks for the good pics of BM ,, rocks and bridges though

Friday evening runs cancelled due to adverse weather conditions.  Here is a view from catch looking south down the course at 18:15 tonight:

I'll hopefully be uploading Jonathan's pictures to my Flickr pages shortly.
