Hi All! Completely forgot about Graeme and his Beastie. A quick dose of internet OCD (youtube and search engine)and I'm up to speed. I seem to remember he was after 100mph. On Humans Invent website there's a podcast with a phone interview with Graeme. He openly accepted he wouldn't be the one to crack the ton. He did say the sums have been done and it's possible (but very reliant on perfect conditions, rider fitness, optimum design, etc.) I'm pleased he's set a prone record. The attempt at the British record was aborted 1 mile in with a mechanical issue I beleive this was in the Vortex. All the Best |

Apparently the chain came off when he tried to qualify in Vortex but he was hoping to have another go....

He had another go this morning and after a wobbly start did 43+ in Vortex. Not bad for a beginner, though Vortex is a genuine 70 mph bike; he did say that he wasn't very confident in it.
Just back from the awards bash following the final runs of the week. This evening's weather was initially way too windy and a lot of people declined to run. Thins still looked rough from the halfway point, but in the important part of the track things had died away almost to nothing. You'll have to rely on my shaky handwriting for the result as Dr No hasn't put them up on the Intertubes yet, but Velox 3, powered by Sebastiaan Bowier, did 83.1-something, legal wind and start, for a new outright record. And I'm going to bed.

83.13 mph is the final verdict. Way to go, Dutch dudes, and if you didn't show up with a a team of about twenty Penniless Student Oaves whom we time-served old gits can exploit for salve labour, this event would fall apart tomorrow.
What kind of a TV station broadcasts adverts for blackhead-be-gone at seven in the morning? Spewosity upchuck...
