I agree it's a great idea but I think you would need to get in quick - There is usually a Sprint Car event the day after the pedal car race so we would need to grab it before they do...

It's a very difficult track to get onto at all, and I understand is used on virtually all Sundays for cars.  All the visits I can remember BHPC making have been Saturdays.

One more thought on Velodromes.... Welwyn seemed pretty good to me when I was playing around over there last year...
My recollection of the last visit was that it was rather bumpy - noted especially by faster riders without suspension.  Since it had been recently surfaced I assume it hasn't changed since.  Also, don't they stop you playing there if it rains?

I think it's worth keeping velodromes in the calendar, If mainly for the benefit of streamliner pilots and faster unfaired riders. I'd say Reading is sufficiently different to a 250m velodrome to justify having both. Reading is a good entry to 'proper' velodromes as it isn't quite as daunting to the uninitiated (and some initiated!).

I concur that Welwyn is horribly bumpy and quite expensive IIRC. I can't see the point of going to Curborough if we don't use the hairpin - there are other more entertaining tracks, such as Shrewsbury and Stourport. The latter shows it's always worth trying new tracks.

It's a shame about Jersey - I can't help thinking that the club has let down Sherri and Keith on this one. Making it a points event in 2013 would perhaps compensate for this...

I'll go with the flow on Hog Hill. I think it's a unique challenge, but there's no point if few attend and it could be difficult to book in Olympic year from what Graham says.

Not too many ones with really tight bends please, Curborough, Stourport, Shrewsbury and Darley all have tight bits, I will only be able to do Darley.  Oh and if you go to Jersey and do a crit, i will be out of that too!

Out of interest how many went to Jersey last time?  and how many went because it was the worlds? It is a very long way for a lot of people, very expensive to get to which makes it a very very expensive day out.  I appreciate that Keith, Sherri and to a slightly lesser dgree Dave T have to put enormous effort and expense into travelling for races, but does shipping 25 - 30 maybe more riders to Jersey ease that burden, not really!

Obviously this is a very biased opinion, but you askedWink
PS what is the UK faired trike 1hr record???

anything we book in the south we need to move on asap!!!
going by one of the up-wrong mags in last weeks the local council has applied to planning to restrict use at the HOG.....

Rhyl is fast with tight (ish) long corners, they would like use to think about using it.

the track in South Wales will be out os use due to a major event in AUG and it is being covered over. Given the lead time on this major event I think it will have restrictions of use from mid june till end Aug. this is going to push all karting races in the calander.

I think the other kart cct west of shewsbury is going to be to far west in the depths of wales. but if we get stuck let me know and I'll ask. it has many options and alows for fast raceing.

I've been talking with some bods at manchester over the last few months, is it worth asking? they have been a little sensitive about track damage so may restrict more of our bikes. saying that I can go over and play as long as there as the track is free, but can not mix with DFs.

what about the olympic track, post the olympics?

if we make the worlds a points race can we restrict the points to uk riders only?

velodromes yes please!!!!

Welwyn didn't seem bumpy to me last year - It could be that they've improved it but it's more likely that I wasn't going fast enough... Embarrassed

Well we definately raced in a HPV race the day after a pedal car race a few times because I remember lap counting for my brother in it.

Can now pretty much confirm that there would be a cafe serving a good BBQ on the saturday night and bacon rolls etc on the Sunday morning with all proceeds to charity.
