Sirs,
I'm a member of the organising commitee for Bike Blenheim Palace. In 2012 the event is going to be expanded to 2 days & we are looking to include more cycling disciplines. We are looking at having a recumbent race around the closed roads - the TT track is 7km long. Would this be of interest to BHPC members?

Some of you may have seen coverage of the Brompton World Championships that are hosted at BBP every year. Here is some info about the event:
Full details of Bike Blenheim Palace & Blenheim Palace can be found here:

Let me know your thoughts,

Antony

Sounds good to me too!
Antony called yesterday to invite us to this event... The more people that show an interest the more likely it is to happen...

Put me down as another interested party - any chance of using a shorter course and more laps, always tends to give better racing in my opinion.

in the Blenheim video there was mention of cattle grids; would these be part of the course?

The course would be the same TT route used during the Blenheim Triathlon (5500 participants), the Brompton World Champs (2 x 6.5km) & BBP TT (3 x 6.5km). The road is of very high quality, so shouldn't pose any problems.

How many recumbent riders would we need to make a good race on this course?

No real chance of a shorter course as the timing stations will be in place for TT & Brompton. Their is a route around the lake that is shorter but part of the course is used for the start & finish of the 60 & 100mile sportives.

What would be helpful for me is if you can give me some guidelines as to what would make a fun day out for you guys. Can you all race together at the same time? What would be a suitable start procedure etc... Gridded? Seeding run needed?

Excuse my ignorance,

Antony
