Hi Anthony

Apologies if I've missed a link to one, but do you have a map of Blenheim with the race course marked on it? I may have time to go over there this weekend - I'll do my best, but am a bit busy at the moment, one way and another. Not much point if I can't follow the route, at least on foot, though. Could take pictures and report back.

Does look a bit narrow for streamliners in places, but we must be able to sort something out - it looks like it could be fun for non-streamliners.

Let me know if you organise a recce Geoff I might eb interested in popping down for a ride as well.

Geoff / Barney
Have you got an email address that I can send the TT course map to? Or buzz me a quick email - aa@bikesoup.co.uk - & I'll send it over. It's nothing too flash - I've taken a screen shot from Google Earth & applied some paint but should communicate the course very well.

Antony - aa@bikesoup.co.uk

PS - Let me know when you want to head over & I'll make sure that you can enter the park without having to dip into your pocket.

Thanks Antony - email sent

Barney - I very much doubt we'll actually be able to ride the course.

Thats right, Geoff. No riding in the park I'm afraid. BBP is the only time in the year when riding is permitted at Blenheim Palace.

Have fun,

Antony

Ok so another long month of house renovating and decorating rather than getting a good excuse to go out to play on my bike.

Looking forward to the idea of Blenheim next year though Thumbs Up

Hi All,

Long time lurker here, just spotted this thread and thought I might be able to contribute...

I took part in Bike Blenhiem 2011 event on my recumbent (albeit the 60mile Sportive, which although OT was excellent, a lovely ride through the Wolds, some good climbs and lovely descents, wonderful summer views and a great bunch of riders, but I digress...)

The start/finish was in the Blenhiem park and took in some of the paths used for the other events, when I returned from the Sportive I took a slow ride around the grounds as part of the family cycling with friends so have a small idea what the course is like from a 'bent pespective.

It is basically a park but with slightly wider paths and much better surface than most local parks, in places barriers lined the track but it was largely open and I don't see running a race on it as being a problem (riders would adapt to the course quickly I'm sure) if there where only 30 riders I suspect an amount of field spread would avoid too much bunching through the tighter areas.

The event features almost everytype of bike (other than recumbents) so I hope we can be incorporated, I'm hoping to attend again so it would be nice to meet some fellow riders as I'm abit on my own down here in the Dorset hills! :-)

Very interested in this!
In the Venn diagram of cycling, 'bents are in the combined area of 'comfort' and 'speed'.

I'd be up for a recumbent race. Also if you wanted to do a Brompton vs Moulton race I could probably get a team of half a dozen or more moultons together to race against
