The pedal car club had its first race of the year at Bruntingthorpe (near Leicester) on Sunday...

Bruntingthorpe was a new venue for the club and it turned out to be very good indeed... A short, twisty little circuit with a very good surface...

Probably would not be great for the streamliners but great fun for everybody else...

You can see the circuit here...

Facilities on site were pretty good...

May be worth a look at some point...

Jes pointed out that it could be an excellent venue for the World Championships (there are of course other circuits available on site...)

I think he's right... As well as having everything we would need it is in a nice central location.

Look out for when they harvest the oil seed rape in the middle - it makes the track very slippery!

Used to go testing there with Triumph. We also had a Tiger Moth make an emergency landing there, while they were doing 150mph stability tests down the runway in the opposite direction! (this is where they get up to 150mph, take one hand off the bars and hit the end of the handlebar...)

Didn't they use it for the HPV World Championships in Leicester in about 1996? We only attended one day, when it was in the city centre.

So you're in that brief period between being not old enough to remember and too old to remember anything then Alan? Smile

Bruntingthorpe was very expensive (£1700 comes to mind for some reason) and they were very awkward about security. This may of course have changed.

Indeed, 1996 Europeans.  Peter Ross got chucked off the site by a Safety Nazi but managed to sneak back in under the radar.

BHPC 1 x 0 Safety Nazis.  BHPC face AC Milan in the semi-final.  Geoff's in goal.
