Richard did one more lap than Mathieu but finished more than 6 mins behind him (in fact he was the last finisher) so his average speed was marginally less.

Bring on the transponders! The timing system is already giving more accurate results (or starting quibbles we didn't know we had, depending how you look at it).

Minor point, my bike should be Fujin SL II, not Fujin SL/1 if it is not too hard to change.

The countryside between cheltenham and castle combe was very pretty. we took the shortest route which was 32 miles rather than the fastest which was about 50. Lots of steep hills and narrow streets though villages. Paul C's Tomtom tried to send us down a road signed "Unsuitable for motors".
