I've just asked Google Maps for directions, and it's telling me to come off the motorway at Leigh Delamere services and slip out through the back gate!!!

I guess that's the one marked "Main Entrance" on the map.  Is that right?

Looks like you can use that route from the M$ Westbound, just as long as there isn't a closed barrier or gate. And the Locals will probably take shots at you- if you don't turn up we'll know why.

That would seem to be the case, looking at this map, yes.

Looks like a legitamate route on the aerial photos...

Having said that, it doesn't look like there's much benefit over using the previous junction. As I'm eastbound, I won't be tempted to investigate. Smile

There is an access road to the Travel Lodge from the local road which is signposted "Travel Lodge only". This just happens to lead into the services themselves. So legitimate (well sort of) and no barrier.

... and probably best to do a loop through the car park rather than taking a sharp left off the slip road.

Your sat nav is probably just trying to save you from the massive jump on the M4 if you don't head into the services.

PhilO, eastbound, the exit to the local road looks even easier...

The Travel Lodge exit is the Northern (Eastbound) part of the services. I don't know about the Southern (Westbound) access/exit.

Dear forum comittee.

Please would it be possible for us to ride the correct way round Castle Combe this year?  That would seem fair since we have had several years going backwards.  This would make it both more challenging and satisfying for the faster bikes (as well as safer).

It may even be worth my while turning up on the correct day.  Unlike Scunthorpe when I made the long trip up there on the Sunday, only to find I had missed you all by 24 hours Unhappy

On a similar vein, is it not possible to remove the old link from the 2008 events page that says that Castle Combe will be available from 1:00 pm due to car-booters.  My Internet event checking adviser that helped me get to the last race on the wrong day was also advising me on the 1:00pm start for this Sunday, luckily I remembered that was from many years ago.  So here I am checking the electricery for myself.

Happy cycling.

Fine with me either way, as the draggy stretch past the pits is draggy either way round.

Shall we have a hands up on the day and go with the majority?
