Topic: Curborough Posted: 16 August 2007 at 4:04pm |

I know I'm early, but, as a newbie, can anyone tell me what sort of track is at Curborough?
I'm committed on 16th September to Durham Big Bike Ride, which I'll do on my TriceQNT to fly the flag.
So I'm hoping to get to Curborough. I assume there is a campsite nearby. Any guidance will be most welcome.

Not sure about a campsite but Curborough is an interesting circuit with a wicked 270 degree hairpin...
Facilities are a bit non-existent though...

Thanks Alan, I wonder if you can tell me how level, or not the track is too?

There is a hill up from the hairpin if you are using the long circuit. Quite a drag I am guessing.
We avoid this in the pedal car races by cutting the track short with a tighter hairpin.
Track is nice and fast but with a couple of interesting corners and is set in quiet Midlands countryside.

track is pretty level. maybe 10ft elevation per lap..
2 campsites on cannock chase but they are a long way up, nice route down from them to the racetrack though..
was told there was a campsite in alrewas,(fradley junction), just around the corner from the track, but i think its just caravans

http://www.fullbrookfarm.co.uk/
is the closest campsite to Curborough
No idea what it's like, I've not heard of it before, although I do know where abouts it is, as I cycle down that road a fair bit.

And it's brilliant to race round there in the dark!
(Particularly when all the junior drivers have removed the glow - sticks we had put down to mark the track and stuck them in their helmets instead...)

I'm hoping that there will be a chance of a social ride in which case count me in.
