Hello,

You'll find below the official announcement for the WC2006 to be held in France this August. Hope to see many riders crossing the channel to participate.
Cheers
Marc

  ------------------------------------------------------------ -------
Ladies and gentlemen,

We are pleased to announce that France will organise the 2006 HPV World
Championships. These will be held in the centre of France, in the
Auvergne region, in and around the charming town of Allegre.

Competitions from Saturday to Monday, 5-7th of August:

- Time trial on road - 12 km long - Saturday late afternoon.
- Hill race - Short time trial in the town of Allegre with grades up to
15% - Sunday morning.
- Criterium - 4 laps on a 18 km long circuit with a 9 % climb - Sunday
afternoon.
- 200 m flying start on the local airport track - Monday morning
- 1000 m standing start on the local airport track - Monday afternoon.
Please note that the airport track is really smooth and suitable for
very fast runs (records?)

In addition to the competitions, touring will also be organised from
Tuesday to Friday, 8-11th of August:

- leisurely rides ranging from 30km (easy) up to 180km (demanding)
- for strong riders, a 240km loop with some severe grades, but with
rewarding sceneries will take place on Friday.

Other activities and attractions will be proposed, such as commercial
stands, flying HPV demos, photography contest, HPV museum, etc...

More details on the program are available on our
official web site:
www.ihpva.org/chapters/france/world2006/

We would appreciate your feedback if you are interested in this event.
So don't hesitate to send us a mail (france-hpv@ihpva.org), and submit
you suggestions, comments, etc....

Best regards,

The 2006 HPV World Championships organising committee

great!

it would be nice to know how many people intend to participate. At this stage, it's difficult for us (the organisers) to guess the turnout..and thus to plan on the necessary ressources (accomodation, food, time keeping...)
If you need hints on travelling to Allegre, get in touch with me.

Cheers
Marc

Hi Marc

Fiona and I, Claire and Adrian (tandem), Jon and Anne and Sherri are coming along. I guess 5 or 6 of us will 'race', but on bikes suitable for touring.

Marc,

I'll be going with a race bike and probably a touring one as well - depends on what the girlfriend wants to do.

Hello,

Once the registration form is operational on our web site you will have to officially confirm your participation (I'll post a message). But needless to say, I'm very glad to see that we can already count on some of you to join us .

Would anyone like to share transport (ie driving) to/from Allegre, either in my car (Mondeo estate) or theirs? I plan to set off early Friday morning (Aug 4th) from Nottingham, stay overnight somewhere south of Paris, and arrive Allegre around midday Saturday. I can't stay for the social rides so will be heading back first thing Tuesday.

Overnight accom in Nottingham on Thursday night is available if required.

Please reply by PM if interested.

>Any person who wants to take part to the races will have to show >us a medical certificate that indicates his aptitude to cycling in >competition, this certificate should be dated at worst 3 months >before the championships.

Anyone got any idea what this new rule is all about?

Do we have to get permission from Fiona???
