Topic: Hillingdon/Hayes, Sat 13th Oct Posted: 10 October 2007 at 2:10pm |
Okay, listen up!
We do not have access to the Hillingdon Circuit until 12.20 pm . Timetable is provisionally as follows:
Registration: 12:15 - 13:00, First Race: 13:30, Trophy Presentation: 15:45 - 16:45
But please note that this depends on how much space there is in the new car park and how quickly the previous lot clear out - there may be delays. Having said that, we want to get everything finished ASAP, so please be ready to race promptly.
Length of races depends on who turns up - we usually get a good turnout here and if there are also inline skaters etc then we may need to run 3 races. Pls bear in mind that we also have trophy presentations to fit in.
Everyone: Don't forget your trophies!
C U there.

I didn't think we had the track until 12:30pm??
If that's still the case, do we have access to parking etc earlier than that??

I didn't know that and I'm the organiser! There is nothing about a late start on the website, so there may be other people who don't know either...
Just looked in the last magazine and it's in there: "Track available from 12.20". I'll revise the above post accordingly. Can someone in the committee get it put on the website pronto, please?

So no, we won't pick up the key because the circuit will already be open (the Hillingdon Slipstreamers youth cycling club have it every Saturday morning).

Didn't mention keys, Nick . With your local knowledge, do you have any idea when we will have access to the carpark Nick? Looks like we will be finishing about midnight!
Mooted timetable: Registration: 12.30 - 13.15, First Race: 13.45, Trophy Presentation: 16.00 - 17.00 (NB: See actual timetable above).
Is this okay with people travelling from far, far away?

I don't have much in the way of local knowledge, Geoff - Hillingdon is the opposite side of a rather large city!
I should think the availability of car parking space depends on how many Hillingdon Slipstreamers' parents' cars are there when we arrive. The parking layout may have changed since our Spring event, what with the construction of the new leisure centre. There is plenty of space in Springfield Road for early arrivals to park temporarily.
Current weather forecast looks good, anyway... sunset is at 18:17

I've managed to do something to my back and so it's doubtful I'm going to race although I'll certainly try if Barney is coming down to keep Sports Class alive...
I don't think Dave and the gang are going to make it now - We're struggling a bit with timing as we're off out in the evening unfortunately...

Sorry I'm just a simple village yokel - I thought you would know everyone who lives in London personally!

Mmmm, all sounds a bit inponderable. Okay, I'll plan to get there 11.30 am - I need time to put a bike together and set up the computer system before registration can start.
I'll put the times forward 15 minutes, but all please bear in mind that there may be some delays - in my experience, if we have been told we have the track from 12.20 then there will still be riders from the first event on the track til 12.30. Then they've got to pack up and leave before there is room for us...
We'll aim to allow everyone to have time after the Trophy presentation to pack up and leave before it starts to get dark.

Now that is impressive...
The results are already up on the web site. They don't usually appear until after the event...
Can somebody with web access put a note on the events page about the start time ASAP please...

One extra thing that I keep forgetting to post...
Our friend in Norwich, Mr M. Burrows has decided in his infinite wisdom generosity to award some extra prizes at Hillingdon. These will be for those who have shown the best improvement over their performance at the first Hillingdon. To qualify you will have to have:- a) competed at Hillingdon #1 2007 (I will see if he can be persuaded to count in performances from last year so I can get a chance!) b) still be in the same class.
You don't have to be riding the same machine though.
Numbers of prizes are dependent on numbers of entrants and are a secret to be revealed on the day.
