Does anyone have any information on the racing at Reading next weekend? apparently we start at 12.30 but is that racing from 12.30 or arriving at 12.30 and racing later?

Thanks

Heather

It is listed as a 1hour race on the 'Events' page so I'm guessing we're going to have to get cracking at 12:30 if we're going to get 2 heats in...

I would guess that is just a duplication from last year rather than a decision made by anyone organising it.

I have no details of the track hire etc so I can't help

I had guessed that since it is a velodrome rather than a circuit, and so presumably has relatively limited room for big fields, we would have lots of shortish, sharpish events with smaller fields than usual?

Which (given the unruly nature of BHPC racers) would be hard work for the poor organiser, of course... so we would all have to promise to be on best behaviour to make such a format work

How long do we have the track, anyway - all afternoon?

The one hour races at Reading last year were a nightmare... Not so much when I was riding, but when I was timing I nearly dozed off!!

It is a big velodrome (459 m).

I am the organisator - unfortunately I don't yet know what all the arrangements are. When I do I'll publice them to you all.
The tentative format will be to start racing as soon as possible after 1230. There will be 2 races, the track is BIG and gently banked so there should not be a problem with numbers. If there is time I will try and fit a fun/alternative race in.

NOTE: The main access to the track will from the infield which can only be accessed via the track. So get there early. THERE WILL BE NO CROSSING OF THE TRACK DURING RACES!!!!!

Just phoned Reading.  The track is booked from 12:30-18:00 so I would suggest, it is Neil's choice when it actually is, that the first race would not be until 13:30.
I take it when Neil said two races, that was people race once but the field would be split into 2 - can you confirm Neil?
