Topic: Hog Hill 2009 Posted: 30 July 2009 at 10:38am |
... well somebody had to start this thread sooner or later! I just thought I'd mention to the organisers that I will be arriving late at about 11:22 to Redbridge Cycle Circuit AKA Hog Hill. Many thanks to National Express East Anglia and C2C for rendering inoperable all main lines going north east out of London... [ETA revised]

Indeed we did.
There being an AGM to get through, there will only be circuit races (Fast and Less Fast) of 40 mins plus two laps, and notice is hereby served that The Hill will be included in them, so get your big cassettes and your best kneecaps on!

Think I will be using the fujin for this race because 1: it's relativly light and 2: it has a wider gear range.
If I can cut away at some of the fairing mount without weakening it too much I maybe able to use the inner chainring although I don't think I will nead a gear that low (26x27), 39x27 should be low enough.

I was riding the hill at 8/9/10mph in 42*34 (on 406 BA) and up to 95% effort. If that gives you any idea what gear to be in Lee...

Glyn, is that a 9-speed cassette? And if so, how did you get the chain to clear the chainstay in top? Re-spacing the hub to the left?

Yes it is a Dura Ace 9 speed. Didn't do anything, everything is perfectly clear. I do have a piece of plastic electrical conduit cut in half along its length and drilled out then heated to form the shape of the stay and glued on as a chainstay protector but the chain does not seem to be hitting it at all.

Hi Howard,
I will be taking a van with some bikes from Egham. Have not planned it yet, but if you want to stay over, or meet up with me from an early train, that may work out. Might have room for Mr T (Tigewell) as well. I live at Egham. If you are coming from the West, change at Reading.

Right! Revised race timetable follows:
The circuit will be occupied by veteran upright racers until 11:00, at which time it becomes ours.
Signing on will be from 10:15 (arrival of computer and signing-on stationery permitting) until 11:00, with special dispensation only for those whose arrival time is determined by public transport limitations. Assuming that the veterans clear off promptly, the circuit will be available for warm-ups from 11:00.
There will be a slightly-less-than-1-lap Hill Climb, counting for 30% of the available points. It will start at 11:30 from the bottom of the hill going down from the clubhouse, and end at the usual finish line outside the clubhouse. Riders will be sent off at 1 minute intervals (unless the event is exceptionally well attended, in which case they will go off at 30 second intervals). There will be no other riding on the circuit while this race is in progress.
Slow and Fast circuit races will use the full circuit. They will count for 70% of the available points, and will be for 30 minutes plus two laps. Riders and lap-counters will assemble at the clubhouse at 12:40 and 13:40 respectively. Riders will then proceed down the hill in an orderly manner to the start line, which will be at the bottom of the hill, and will form up there for the race to be started. The races will finish at the usual finish line outside the clubhouse, so lap counters can stay there. The first lap will be counted when the riders pass the clubhouse for the first time.
The published timetable will be strictly adhered to. Please make sure that you are ready to start, with a lap-counter organised, at the advertised times.
The 2009 Prize Presentation and AGM will take place in the clubhouse, starting promptly at 15:00 and ending at or before 17:00.
