I've been in correspondence, too: one of the team members is the son of a former colleague. Suggested they contact Mssrs Harrington and Woolrich for the lowdown on how the Battle Mountain event works.

The last one I saw on ebay was this Optima Baron - it might be worth getting in touch with the vendor to check if he actually sold it: ebay item # 191068390820
I've got a saved search on ebay and lowracers are coming up roughly one every 6 weeks or so. If you can get access to a track or runway and you've got a competent rider, I'll bring my Nocom across - it'll be interesting for you to see just how much effort is required to get to 35mph on an unfaired lowracer...
