The wiring in my 12 year-old Quest is feeling its age all of a sudden. I think the high levels of moisture from enthusiastic riding and living in Scotland, plus dealing with crap roads, have not been good for it.

The negative wire from the battery into the bundle has corroded yet again and the copper was in poor condition no matter how far I stripped it back when I was installing a new battery connector yesterday. Worse, only the brake light now works. I have no headlights, no indicators, and no interior light. My accessory circuit wiring (tapped off the brake and indicator supplies) is also badly corroded and hardly works.

I'm faced with removing the control panel housing so that I can get at the wiring inside, and I probably need to pull the top off the machine to get enough access to everything. Heck, while I'm at it I might as well fix the crummy front shifting and repair the little LED running lights. I feel like I may as well replace the entire loom.

Can anyone recommend a good source of six-core wiring that isn't bell wire thin, and also recommend a good brand of solder? After 30 years I'm starting to think that my big reel of solder, that the owner of Omni Electronics in Edinburgh once gave me, isn't actually that good.

This is the best solder to use. I am retired now but used it all my life at MBDA.
