Not finding that here - People seem to be giving me more room than usual if anything. Just took some shopping down to my folks in the van and I honestly passed more bicycles than cars. |

Similarly, the standard of driving here is about the same as usual. The only substantial difference is that since there are fewer people driving, they're less likely to get stuck behind someone obeying a 20mph speed limit, and will do 30 on the residential roads.

Following your rides every day Alan and getting out on my Moulton. It's like riding in the 1970s again with the roads so quiet, and if I don't get a haircut soon I will look like I did in the 70s! A lot of non cyclist out on bikes as well, hopefully they will see the light and keep it up afterwards. Stuart

Hi Russ,
Yes it’s a Garmin Ultra 30 and then just using the Virb Edit software to edit and upload to YouTube. |

Back in the Long Hot Summer of 1989 we were smitten by a series of rail and tube strikes and consequently London's famous London was full of people commuting on BSOs. To spice things up, full pro team kit was a Fashion Thing among the rave fraternity, so we were treated to folk dressed as Pedro Delgado pedalling £39.99 specials down the Lea Bridge Road with their kneecaps approaching the sound barrier as they tried to get to grips with all those gears. Then the strikes ended, autumn arrived, the non-cyclists flew south for the winter and never returned. Though there is a persistent rumour that on a dark night near the Clapton roundabout you can still hear ghostly cries of "Acieeeeed! What's the ku? What you on? Stay in gear, metal bastard!"

Saffron Walden is the home to Audley End House and it has this interesting history with a memorial urn placed in the Gardens with these words enscribed: Saffron Walden is a great little destination. It became quite wealthy because of growing Saffron - hence the name. When not in lockdown the town has quite a few cafes including a cycling café called Bicycletta. ![]() Edited by atlas_shrugged - 09 May 2020 at 7:34pm |
