Would it be possible for me to have a go on this machine and do a lap or two so I could satisfy myself that you could see well enough to be on the track at the same time as me :)
Current fleet: Milan SL MK2 #027, Fujin SL II, Beany!

Lee I don't see you until you are past me anyway, no danger of me running into you!

Jeff, i have thought about a periscope, as you say much simpler, and yes main draw back is fogging, but this could be overcome with a low power heater, like a car mirror!

Hi Ian
if the upper mirror is facing forward and is exposed to the oncoming wind would that then act like a duct keeping both upper and lower mirrors clear and give you some ventilation.
Jeff.

If you are considering having a fall back of a head whole, then why not consider an approach like Kuban Sun: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1973451123393111255.

This has a screen at the front (narrow FOV) and then a head whole for when a wider view is required. I'd imageing a hard shell helmet would be needed for this from a sefety perspective but it may be an easier solution than remote viewing.
