The reverse fun race is an inspiration: like doing two different circuits in the same day. The bread pudding was another inspiration - the club should fund the Marshalls to make sure it is provided at all future events. A piece should certainly be sent to all new members as an encouragement to attend.

What was the course like to ride in reverse?
I didn't get a chance but kept think that the chicane would be fun that way round, but then there would be a nice little straight d/h to get enough speed up to really overshoot the start/finish corner.

Just cleaning the pics up..

Will be available on

Are the various parents of the under 16s okay with pics of their kids on there?
If there's any worry I can either take individaul pics down or lock the albums to a specific sign in if need be.

Thanks to all the organisers for a great day, I even rode home (across the hills) in 2 1/2 hours from Derby, so maybe I should have raced faster :)

Bread pudding seconded, a genius creation indeed and if some kind soul would care to share the recipe that would be grand.

I took a few decent photos, and a lot of dross because my rather aged digicam didn't like focusing on fast moving shiny things. And because I thought the shutter speed would be fast enough to freeze everything, but actually it wasn't and I should have been panning the camera with the riders. No photos of the second race cos I was in it.

I've put a very quick gallery at http://www.ajjrice.plus.com/images/hayes/

Riding backwards was quite different because you never really entered the corners with much speed, the wind was in your face on the downhill stretches which were too short to get much speed up and the climbs were all long drags rather than short sprints. Much less interesting to race really.

fards,

No problem with photos of juniors Hollie (35) and Casey(46), thanks for asking first though.
I want to give peace, love and kisses out to this whole stinking world!

Deadpan

I thought that was funny, but Casey (12) just grunted in the way that almost teenagers do...

By the way, Alex - my Mum had the video camera going and caught your near miss at the end of the race...

Nicely saved  Clap although I think me, Dave and gNick probably have a couple of extra grey hairs each!!

Oh no, preserved for all eternity...

I'm not quite sure what happened though - I think I punched the air, wiggled the handlebars slightly with my left hand and accidentally unclipped my left foot which led to the rather spectacular loss of balance.

Twed (96 - Yellow streamliner thingy)
Well ....the chicane could be more or less straight lined .....that was until a gust blew me periously close to the apex edging Pinch ..... mid track after that.
Yes the start finish corner did feel different ....the bike wiggled a couple of times ....I must have been around the same speed, and it did not feel more bumpy or windy ...dunno. HOWEVER, it was definately more windy when I broke the 'bomb doors' elastic and they opened. I had to hold the string up whilst going around the corners (including hairpin) at the rear of the circuit ....not recommended Big smile......unluckily for Nick I had a back-up elastic band onboard, so was able to fettle them back in place.
Ah....by chicane did you mean the wiggle after the hairpin? ......if so ....yes it was different. Anti-clockwise you just keep the bike leant over after the hairpin, which apexes the next RH ...and a flick to the left takes you over the hill. However clockwise takes you into this complex of corners uphill, by what feels like a never ending right hander (Nick's line was better through there)......then it took me a few goes to apex the (now) LH'er and keep it cranked over for the hairpin.

I have to say that Eastway is not as much fun the 'wrong' way around.
Never believe an atom they make up everything.
