I was racing there in the Retro races last Sunday and the morning roadies had set up in the foyer but they let us use a table at the back of the cafe as they were a bit slow in packing up. I imagine they would do the same for us. Also means you can get a coffee whilst doing it.

See you Sunday

Okay, thanks Stuart. How about this?

Hog Hill - Sunday 7th October 2012

Signing-On Starts: 11.00am (ish)
Signing-On Finishes: 11.50 am
Practice - CLOCKWISE: From 12:00 noon
Race 1 (Slow) 20min+1 Lap Clockwise: 12:30 sharp
Race 2 (Fast) 20min+1 Lap Clockwise: 1:00pm
Lunch: 1:30pm to 2:00pm
Practice - ANTICLOCKWISE: 2:00pm
Race 3 (Slow) 40min+1 Lap Anticlockwise: 2:20pm sharp
Race 4 (Fast) 40min+1 Lap Anticlockwise: 3:10pm

(All details subject to change). We may do signing-on in the carpark, in the back of my van (dark blue VW Caddy), so look out for this, or maybe just in front of, or inside the clubhouse.

If there are only a few people then we could just have 2 races (as last year) and I'll forefeit racing, but, can I stress that we are only using the bottom circuit, so, for people from Holland or Norfolk, or bikes with Battle Mountain gearing, there are NO HILLS. There are corners, but not sharp enough for any bike to run out of steering lock.

Weather forecast (BBC), is 14 degrees, 12mph easterly wind, light cloud, 70% humidity. No rain forecast til 10pm Sunday.

Please say if you can see any flaws in my plan. Thanks.

Geoff - Judith and I will definitely be there, but only Judith will race  because I have bruised ribs from a tumble on Tuesday. So you need not forfeit your race Smile

That's that excuse blown away, then... Big smile

Sorry to hear about the bruised ribs Nick - really. Thanks for the offer of help - we'll see how it pans out - I think I might have a terrible cold coming on...

I am new to the HPV race, coming to Hog hill for the first time. SmileHow does one enter a race? I assume I can enter on the day? I ride a commercial made HP Velotech speedmachine so which category would I enter in? Is there a cost? what are they?
I can help set-up if needed...and from previous posts help sweep the track if needed..Kevin< id="plugin0" ="application/x-dgnria" width="0" height="0" style=": ; : 1000">< name="tabId" value="14">

Hi Kevin,

You'll be more than welcome!
It's £10 for non members to race and you can sign up on the day.
You will be in open, part faired, unfaired (assuming no fairings!) street and sports classes.

You MUST have a chainguard and wear a helmet to race.
Elbow guards are strongly advised.

See you there!

Hi Kevin

We look forward to meeting you. You will also need 2 number plates for your race number, approximately A5 size. The most important one should be clearly visible from the front. The other on should be visible from the left (non-chain side). We will issue you with a number on the day, but having the number plates ready will help.

You can find the rules here http://www.bhpc.org.uk/rules-and-classes.aspx , but please don't be intimidated, our most important rule is to be friendly and informal, especially to newcomers.

See you tomorrow

BTW, weather forecast for tomorrow improving: 14 degrees, sunny spells, 3mph easterly wind, 55% humidity.

I should add that the venue is called the Redbridge Cycling Centre (not Hog Hill), Forest Road, IG6 3HP

How Do All ;-)

I shall be turning up to race tomorrow after what seems like a life time.
Not been riding much since having both legs done, and only just got over a nice case of food poisoning last week after having some dodgy cream cheese the day before I flew back from Germany 2 weeks ago, so I doubt I will kicking ass and taking names for a while to come yet, not that I ever did before anyway ;-)

Take care,
Barry ;-)

P.S: Welcome Kevin! You will have a real blast tomorrow, and a very nice track for your first race too!
