Suggestions have been made in the past that BHPC should run a points system modelled on that of F1.  I've always opposed that, and it would work against one of my objectives of getting as many people as possible to be having fun HPV racing.  I can't think of an example, either, when the system we've used in recent years has failed to produce the "right" champion.

Now those F1 boys have done thisWacko

Needless to say, I won't be thinking of changing to a system that could render a championship all but settled before the season is even half over.

I guess the inference from Bernie is that Hamilton didn't deserve his championship. Anyone who saw Massa v. Hamilton in the rain would beg to differ I think.

All of our champions are fully deserving of their titles of course. Even my Ecclestone-like meddling with the class system didn't work in my favour! Drat

And it's just been announced that Bernie has prevailed and the 2009 Championships will go to the driver with the most wins[1].  Anyone who maintains that this is merely Mr Ecclescake demonstrating a bias towards Ferrari should have the phone number of a good legal representative to hand.  There's a chap called Max Mosley who is said to be quite handy in court.

1 - Massa last year, Sir Stirling in 1958, ect ect

I heard a great line on Radio 4 yesterday:
"If everything seems to be under control, you're not going fast enough"
They were talking about their F1 coverage but we should adopt it as the official BHPC tagline. Much snappier than "Formed to foster all aspects of human powered vehicles.

They have now dropped this ludicrous idea.
Part of the arguement could have been that if someone got a really good start (not out of the question in a year with so many rule changes) then the last 8 rounds of the 17 race championship could be a total waste of time!

If the BPCC had used it last year then I think only 2 cars would have needed to be at the final 2 races of the season which would have been a bit of a bummer seeing as it would have meant we couldn't afford to put the events on in the 1st place!
Racing is life...
Anything which happens before or afterwards is just standing around waiting to race....

Now that's an interesting option - I'm thinking an air tank, lightweight air motor, pedal driven compressor, 3 weeks in front of the telly ....

Training indoors, and a rocketship on the track when I finally get there - what's not to like ? Evil Smile

And F1 has delayed the first past the post system. At least until next year!
