Yes, this is what I understand from Keith's web site. The circuit race will be much like any other BHPC race meeting - except maybe with more spectators than usual Smile

That's my understanding, too.  Over the weekend I was intending to catch up with some pre-season updates, including this refinement to the increasingly less provisional (in fact, I think, it will be finalised) race calendar.

It's starting to get controversial now - no, no, no, not points, but the G-word! Sure fire way to wind up someone from Jersey (aka a "'Bean" as in "Jersey Bean") is to say that Jersey is very nice, but not as nice as Guernsey. They like their rivalries - here's a clip of a stereotypical 'Bean showing that there's even a one within Jersey between the east (Grouville) and west (St Ouen - pronounced Saint Won).

As for points, yes, the circuit race on the Saturday will be as close to a standard BHPC race as people want - and that includes points. I'm only telling locals in order to get marshals, so there shouldn't be that many spectators. There may be riders in this race that are not BHPC members - if this is the case, they will not get BHPC points. This is to keep the whole BHPC championship points scoring scheme working as if it were a race in the UK.

There will be a second points scheme running for the duration of the weekend that all riders will get points for in all events - but I'm not going to confuse things by going over that in this post - or even this thread!!! Suffice to say that there will be no confusion and everyone will be happy. Wacko

On the ferries cycles are stored below deck - and are kept nice and dry. Let me know if you're not coming over with a car & need help with travel to & from the airport / ferry-port / events. I'll have a van over the weekend that will have space for cycles, people & luggage.

Jon, Anne & Glyn - that's great, looking forward to seeing on Jersey.

A friend has very kindly offered to prepare the food for the BBQ after the BHPC championship race on the Saturday. This is especially good news as she is an excellent cook! If anyone has any dietary requirements, could you let me know by sending me a PM.

D TIG Welder and I have booked in for Friday to Monday.

Not sure if I can make it to the hill climb as arrive at Jersey 1655 and it looks like the ferry docks some 7 miles from the start of the hill climb...

[Keith- if you have .kml map files for the courses this would be very helpful in navigating the island that weekend...]

Excellent! I can meet you guys (and anyone else) arriving on that ferry and ride as a group to the hill climb. There's plenty of time, and sign on is very informal. There will be a van if anyone wants to offload some gear.

While hill climbs aren't a classic HPV event, when I publish the course profiles you'll see that there's a lot of flat before the start of the hill - a chance to make up some time before the hill proper. In addition, this event is part of a series of events over the weekend, so it'll not just be made up of scrawney climbers - last year's times ranged from 3:20 (a mountain biker) to 4:55 (Andy 'Peroni' Ilton). With the reputation that recumbent's can't go up hill, the other riders will regard anyone who takes part on a recumbent as having super human qualities!

There will be maps a plenty (.kml and .jpeg) - though if anyone wants a particular GPS format I'll need some help with that.
