Could someone out there, who is cleverer than me, tell me why no one got maximum points in the part faired and unfaired classes at Hog Hill? I have a slight interest in this matter.
Lovely day in St Ives. Dave T

To get maximum points one would have to have won both the TT and the mass-start race.  I haven't checked the results, but I guess that wasn't the case.

Have checked the results (and remembered that there were two mass-start races).  Yes, the way that we usually distribute the points, to get maximum points a rider would have to win all three races.  Nobody did.

For Preston I think I said the points split was 20% for the TT and 80% for the mass start race.  The winner of the TT would get 1000 * 20% = 200 points.  The winner of the mass start race would get 1000 * 80% = 800 points.  So a rider who won both would get:

(1000 * 20%) + (1000 * 80%) = 1000 points

But if instead they'd come second in the TT, they would get:

(900 * 20%) + (1000 * 80%) = 980 points

Arbut, if it were first in the TT and second in the mass-start it would only be

(1000 * 20%) + (900 * 80%) = 920 points

as Mike knows...
