If you look here ( http://uk2.multimap.com/map/photo.cgi?client=public&X=497500&Y=373500&scale=10000&width=700&height=400&gride=497600&gridn=373404&lang=&db=pc&coordsys=gb - http://uk2.multimap.com/map/photo.cgi?client=public&X=49 7500&Y=373500&scale=10000&width=700&height=4 00&gride=497600&gridn=373404&lang=&db=pc& ;coordsys=gb ) you can easily pick out the leisure centre's running track.
At http://www.lincoln.gov.uk/Information_page_+_3_pic_det.asp?id=3382 - http://www.lincoln.gov.uk/Information_page_+_3_pic_det.asp?i d=3382 the cycle track is described thus: "The cycle track is a complete circuit of 1500 metres. The circuit comprises of two loops, the smaller equates to 833 metres". From which I'm guessing that the cycle track is what you can see running around the perimeter of the site inna Preston Arena stylee.

When you say 'what you can see running around the perimiter of the site', Um, I can't see anything on this link that looks like a plan.
It sounds quite interesting. Maybe we could do a 'fun race' round the tighter circuit? I'm pleased to be offered the chance to see 'The Old Debtors Prison', but Lincoln used to have a pretty good cycle museum. I wonder if it's still there.

Ooops - well at least it's not another international incedent this time. I realised which was the right link. I guess the track is roughly 2 halves. The North part looks like the tight circuit. Not sure if just that part can be ridden. Obviously there is no profile. Lincolnshire tends to be a bit like Norfolk - 'very flat'. However, the city itself has a some steep little hills. I was just thinking how good it would be to do the city crit circuit, but I think it's pave infested.

Yes, the middle of Lincoln is full of cobbles and restricted zones, there is the famous "steep hill" which has a section about 1:3 which is cobbled but it is now pedestrian only.

I went though lincoln a few days ago, I would not recommend going over the pavé in the center on a trike (or anykind of bike). Pavé, High pressure tyres, stiff frames and Hardshell seats don't mix. My hardshell seat had half the padding removed since I did a mock TT the day before and forgot to replace the padding, I seem faster with less padding (normally ride with 2" of padding) but it is harsher going over dreaded level crossings. I did try riding up my local street once (chip-seal) with no padding atall, just sat on the fiberglass seat, never again.

Out of interest, we have struggled in the past to find the right padding for darrens hardshell seat, bearing in mind he rides for up to 6 hours at a time and did over rode for over 14 hrs in a 24 hour period recently in swansea. Too much padding tends to loose power and cause too much sweating. We think at last we have found the solution in the form of a self adhesive neoprene type tape. This has so far lasted for over 30 hours of racing and still looks as good as new and appears to be the answer. Might be worth you giving it a try. You can just see it in this picture

Just wondering if they have sent that map yet. I have looked at multimap and that air picture but cannot make out where the entrance and car-park are and from which road you access the circuit.

I have just spoken to the track people and it is supposed to be easy to find.
The track is at Yarborough Leisure Centre, the entrance of which is
well signed and on the West side of Riseholme Road which
according to Multimap is also known as the B1226. I will post up a map
from the Multimap website this evening (no picture editing
software at work) and will see about getting something onto the website
asap.

I notice that the immediate environs of the circuit feature a Laughton Way, a Chatterton Avenue and a number of Groves. I wonder, is this an homage - though unfortunately misspelt in one case - to BHPC champions?

Went to Lincoln today and checked out the circuit. Finding it should be easy (last time I went to Lincoln, I thought we went down the road which went past the circuit but it was infact a diffrent road so no wonder I did not see anything which looked like a circuit. The entrance to the leasure center is clearly signed and the circuit is accesses though the green gates between the leasure center and the school.
The surface is fairly smooth, there were a few patched up areas and a few cracks but nothing major. The track did have quite a bit of overhanging vegetation but I was told that this would be removed prior to the race. There was also a few twigs, stones, litter etc on the circuit but this should hopefully have been swept before the race.
When I went, part of the ciruit was a public path between the housing areas on either side and there were a few people walking dogs etc, I'm not sure if this path will be closed on race day and the gates at each end locked. Maybe myself or someone else should contact the leisure center and find out?
There are toilets, changing rooms, showers and a cafe in the leisure center next to the circuit. I'm not sure if there will be an extra charge to use the changing rooms, shall I find out?

I have contacted the leisure centre - it appears that the locals are
fairly amenable to cyclists so we don't (in fact can't) close of their
access.
The issue on the day might be football matches on the pitches in the
middle where players and their cars and occaisionally their balls will
feel the need to cross the track. The players and cars have only one
access point accross the track (they won't be trying to drive round the
track like that donkey at Salt Ayre) but we will need a marshall or
two. This mainly affects the outer circuit but I will make a decision
as to whether we use the inner or outer tracks on the day.

I have made a rougth sketch with paint of the circuit. I did not see a start/finish line anyware. Do you know where the start/finish is?
Will there be any signs/marshals at the gates? I can just imagine a dog or a kid stepping out infront of a streamliner doing 35Mph and the unpleasant consequences if there was a collision.
If the undergrouth is cut back, it will be easier to see around some of the tight corners in the north west part of the circuit where the undergrouth is currently quite thick and I could not really see around the corners at 72cm eye line.

About the track I know nothing bar what those on the ground have told me - I don't think I have ever been to Lincoln.
My aim is to get there with plenty of time to get myself sorted and
decide what we are going to do and where. We do still have some warning
signs (I think), some marshalls vests and I definitely have some Hazard
tape so we should be safe.
Lee - where are the football pitches in your scheme of things?

When I went, I saw some people playing football (I think they were anyway from what I saw) on where I have marked football pitches on the plan. I did not get off my bike atall while on the circuit so could only see what could be seen from a 7" high seat. I did not check the grass areas in the center to see if there were any pitches marked out, should have done really. I think there is a seprate access to the north-west corner but not sure.
