First of all may I add, to those already posted on the Hillingdon thread, my H-U-U-U-U-GE thanks to Alan for doing an excellent job of leading the organisating, to all those - most visibly, and audibly Derrick - who lent a hand and to Bazz for dealing with opening-up and locking-down.

Now, you have your own chance to earn such everlasting approbation by taking your turn at being an organisator-in-chief.  The most urgent request is for someone to lead organisating at Darley Moor (though there are plenty of vacancies for the post at other meetings later in the season).  You won't be on your own - relative newcomer John Lucian has already stepped up with an offer to assist - and you know that there will be other willing helpers on the day if you need them.

As organisator you get to choose the format of racing.  One suggestion is prompted by Alan telling me that his format of one race in each direction proved a very popular decision yesterday; we know from experience that this works at Darley Moor too.

As I said in http://forum.bhpc.org.uk/hillingdon-17th-april_topic4261_page7.html - another part of the forest , I'm happy to do Darley Moor unless someone else wants to. John Lucien's help would be much appreciated. Does anyone know where the club laptop is? It would be good to have it beforehand to get the race software on and prepped up.

I've not used the timing system in it's current state so if that's going to turn up then someone else might have to do that bit.

Yes 'tis with me.

I'll need it for testing the hopefully updated tags (see other part of the forest) but if you want to set up the spreadsheet and send it up I'll make sure it works...

I'll send you the spreadsheet from Hillingdon in a minute gNick so that you can play wiith it, but Kevin is tweaking it to make it even more superb than it already is so there will be some changes...

after the racing i would like to carry on and do an hour or so more - just to see if i can do it, would that be allowed?  I am more than willing to lock up!

No problem in terms of insurance Ian...
Adrian will be able to tell you what time we have to be off the track.

Only obvious concern would be if you had an accident or were taken ill while there on your own... It may well be that others want to stay and play as well of course in which case there wouldn't be a problem... A couple of the pedal car teams are likely to be there I think and they may well want to take advantage of some extra track time... Thumbs Up

Geoff, there are i'm sure many more challenges in life for me.  However, a 24hr record attempt is not one of them, believe me keeping going at any speed for an hour is hard enough! LOL

I'll probably stick around anyway, so first aid shouldn't be an issue.

Details of the plan for racing next Sunday (15th May) at Darley Moor.

10am - sign on open

11.15am - 2 lap time trial, anti-clockwise, riders start every 30 seconds. Note: no warm up on the track once TT begins, and one go for each rider except under severe circumstances and at the discretion of the organisers

12.30pm - first race (probably slower), 45 minutes plus one lap, clockwise.

1.45pm - second race (probably faster), as above

3-4pm - track available for try outs etc AND.....

3-4pm - opportunity to find new homes for all those cycling bits cluttering up your garages and sheds at an informal "saddle-bag" sale. Just bring the cycling related bits you don't want and see if someone will love them more than you do.

As part of the Darley Moor Saddlebag sale I have a quantity of ventilated seat seat material (very similar to that used to make those very nice Dutch VENTIlated SIT mats).

I was thinking of £10 per 900mm x 300mm slab, obviously £20 per 900 x 600 if you want double thickness.  Depending on how things go I may offer a service to make up seat cushions.  PM me if you want to place an order or reserve a slab.

Shame I won't be able to make it to Darley Moor, I've also got quite a few things to shift. Anybody up for a similar saddlebag sale at Stourport?

I think it's a good idea - I don't see any reason to not make it a regular feature if it works out well at DM...

warning, GNick has just pointed out that the a50 is closed West bound. if you're coming from the south it's likely to cause issues.

looks like it's between Sudbury and uttoxeter right at the end of the a515..

if you check the map Theres an alternative route just south going past Sudbury hall itself which has access to the a515 darley moor road.

Err. I don't remember it happening in a BHPC race any time in my very nearly 10 years racing.

May I add my thanks to Heather for leading the organisating, to Jon and Anne for overcoming their hangovers to step in to help out in Andrew's unavoidable absence (get well soon Andrew) to gNick for doing a grand job with the timing system and for everyone else who lent a hand.

Oh and as for Barney's tent...  Clap

We need a bloke like they have on Test Match Special, who immediately furnishes us with the details of the relavent event!

When I first started going to BHPC races in the mid nineties, faired trikes were in the ascendancy - maybe those times will return?

I'd like to add my thanks to the organisers Heather, gNick, Jon et al.

Afraid I'm still feeling below par, due to lingering cold and lack of fitness :-(   Was even beaten by a 15 year old girl - very well done Sarah - you're really starting to show your true potential, now there's a chance of winning a championship ;-)

Get well soon Andrew!

We need a bloke like they have on Test Match Special, who immediately furnishes us with the details of the relavent event!

I think Mike did furnish us with the relevant information - about when he beat Slash of all unlikely things!
It has been a long time though.

A grand day out, apart from the weather and even that was OK since it threatened a few times but didn't actually rain.

Only one tag didn't properly work but by being able to ask where people were and very importantly a good timed finish order it was sorted out easily.

Thanks to all who organised and helped - without you there could be no races - and a special thank you to Darley Moor for having a working heater in the office! Big smile

Many thanks for all whom made this race possible, especially gnick for comming all the way from pitty me just to help out and watch.
I seem to remember winning the fast race at lancaster 07 on a trike.... Just to find out that someone had beaten me overall in the slow race!

One slight quibble, Ian fardoe is not class M

May I add my thanks to all organisators. It helped make my first race of 2011 slowly enjoyable! However, last night I dreamt that Andy Forey passed several times, not on a Moulton but on a Unicycle! Hope its not a premonition .....Confused

Oooops, that wasn't deliberate. I was sharing the YeloDonkey with Niel that day, and it was far safer for me to negotiate the wavering slowbies than he (who was new to racing full coverings).

In the apparent absence of any further quibbles the results tables have been finalised and should be appearing on the BHPC website sometime soon.

Many thanks to gNick for a full set of quibble-resistant e-results, making the results munging vastly easier. I hope this sets a pattern for the rest of the season, and for years to come.

Thanks also for the get-well-soons. Whatever it was I had left just as rapidly as it arrived and it's as if nothing ever happened (except I come round to find I've dropped five places in Part-Faired Cry...).

Did anyone pick up a yellow cycle top at Darley Moor?
Tis mine, but no great loss if not.
Had a great time re-learning how to race a streamliner around tight(ish) hairpins. Had a puncture at end of race.....someone was looking over me!....not just the pilot of that light aircraft doing Touch & Goes!!

Having remebered only yesterday, that I shot some fast race video footageat Darley Moor, I have posted a 2minute sequence on Metacafe:

I was having a 'shaky hand' day, but its still watchable. Enjoy.

Bye the way my Windcheetah Hypersport has a new master who lives in Aldershot....
