Thought I'd start this one off nice and early...

Anybody willing to organise at Rhyl??

I have just spoken to the chap at this camp site... http://www.clwydview.co.uk/index.html" rel="nofollow - http://www.clwydview.co.uk/index.html

It's pretty close to the track and they sound very friendly. I've booked in from the Friday night until Sunday (no deposit required... Thumbs Up )

I've said there will probably be a dozen or so people camping. As it's towards the end of the season he said there shouldn't be any problems but he's going to make sure there is space for us... Big smile

When you ring just say you're with Alan Goodman's party so he knows who you are...

Try not to wreck the place or I'll get the blame as he's only got my name... Big smileBig smileBig smile

Is anybody willing to organise this event??...
Or help out with organising?

Remember that whoever organises gets to decide the race format... Wink

Do we have anybody willing to provide First Aid cover at Rhyl??

I'm happy to assist. Rhyl is relatively local for me and it looks like an awesome track!

OK Then...

I'll do it...

We will NOT be using the timing system.
Please come prepared to count laps for whichever race you aren't in.

Races will be 30 minutes in each direction so we get to have a good look at what will be a new track for all of us.
I'm driving up on the Friday so I'll go and have a look around the track if I get a chance.

Results will be available by Sunday night at the latest.

Does anybody know if there is a clubhouse or anywhere with power for the laptop?
Has the track been paid for or will we need to sort that out when we get there as with Stourport?

The Marsh Tracks website refers to "...meeting and changing rooms with showers and toilets" and a trackside hut has been installed for spectators, but whether the latter has power I don't know....

Are we racing from 11am?  just so that i know when i have to set the cock a doodle doo to crow before sun rise or just after!

Everybody gets to ride in both directions - but assuming a reasonable number of people turn up we will split the field into two (nominally fast and slow)... So the people in the fast race would count laps for the people in the slow race and vice-versa...

There will therefore be 4 races in total, with every rider taking part in two... Big smile

Thinking about heading up, just trying to work out how feasible it is to ride there, grunting the Quest over the top of the horseshoe pass might hurt.

Nice work with the results, Alan. Also nice work Kevin for the software which seems capable of producing sensible results whatever you throw at it. Many thanks to Alan and Heather for exemplary organisating.

Rhyl is a great track with one of the best surfaces I've raced on and a good mix of fast and tight bends. About the only possible improvements would be one or two longer straights and a better location, closer to where anyone actually lived.

All best wishes to George and I hope he gets better (or at least gets home) soon.

Heather did most of the work (again) which allowed me to race... Thumbs Up

Definitely the best track I have raced on with BHPC... Even at my speed the bends were exciting and I've never been on any surface that gave me that much confidence... Wonder what its like in the wet?

Also worth mentioning that we were made very welcome and they ended up providing First Aid cover for us as well.

I really hope we go there again next year...

I'm glad it proved to be a good venue, and I'm sorry I couldn't be there.

Though not very central, geographically speaking, when I was considering it as a venue I was pleasantly surprised that its connections to fast roads meant that driving times from most parts of the country were not prohibitive.

The camp site was ok but not cheap at £16 per night... Their card entry system was nice and secure but a bit of a pain to be honest.
The Indian restaurant just round the corner was great though, and the little cafe did a good breakfast...

I loved the track and riding the mountain bike was actually quite instructive in terms of getting a performance comparison with the recumbent.  I have some photo's and video footage which I shall endeavour to upload later today.

.   Hmmm not quite. By the way - before someone complains about the race day results posted.  The positions are incorrect for the two multi-bike riders, though the season results are accurate.  Could investigate but don't have time at the moment.  So the points are correct in any case.

It was a very nice track in those conditions. It took me a while to realise that I could not use the top 2 gears on the bike and that I should just spin it and put more speed through the corners (as there was enough grip). There was enough room to take several lines through the corners .....this was especially noticeable in the second race as I tried to safely maintain (average) speed whilst negotiating trikes, stricken Georges etc.
I suspect the track would take on another level of 'challenging' if it was wet .....not because of lean angle (I wasn't full on), but there was a couple of corners, where at speed, the apexing had to be precise to stay on the black stuff.
Yes ...I was worried that although the track was big enough for Sarah to have a first streamliner ride.....that it may prove too technical and it may put her off. HA!....not a chance.....I was so chuffed to see her leaning enough to grab a good result. Looks like I have lost my ride for the rest of the season

Oh....Kevin ....I forgot to add .....you can mark me down for 3rd overall. Eddie was better than me on the day. Although anti-clockwise was faster (a lot faster for me), I suspect I would not have held that average had we gone the full distance.

I dont think that my average for the second race is correct. I can only manage just over 25MPH for 40mins on the road on my TT bike with full aero kit. I reckon I was a bit quicker say about 0.5-1mph in the 2nd race. I wish i could average 27 though....

I think four of us possibly did 9 laps not 10... But the score I had for you and one other said 10 and I knew we were all on the same lap...
It was a bit of a mess with the race being stopped early but I'm pretty sure the race order is correct which is all that matters for championship points...

Heather and I did the best we could with the results we had... Everybody else had left by the time I finished sorting them out and uploading them here...

No it's fine as it is Kevin... Possibly not 100% accurate in terms of average speed but it ties up with the notes I have and everybody is in the correct order.

Personally I don't think we should ever change results this late after a race... I was in the office on site for nearly an hour after everybody else had gone... Anybody worried about results could have stayed there and sorted it then... Wink
