Lee and i have opted for 7am, I understand Miles is okay with any time, haven't contacted Slash yet. Don't know his contact details although I'm sure Miles will advise him. Training, erm i'm doing two commutes a week, when i'm in the office, it isn't going to plan - work gets in the way!! Lee and i are going to Spezi at the end of April so that will be a few long days and about 1200km.

morning P2,
you guys doing the prologue?
is there time to make the start as LEL writes:
However the times between 07:45 and 09:15 are reserved for riders who want to ride the prologue.

Date Posted: 14 March 2013 at 7:14pm
no not doing prologue, not official one, but we will have a 17 mile ride to start! We hope to get to Thirsk before stopping for a kip, so only a 267 mile day .........

It maybe a bit shorter than that for me as I'm thinking about taking a few shortcuts, such as using roads like A63(T), A1079, A19 instead of twisty, hilly roads:)

ho that's nice of you!!! 250miles humm what extra routes are you taking to get the extra milage? , so you going via b6277 from Barnard Castel over the lumpy looking bit or extra few miles around edge?
I'm sure you boys will enjoy yourselfs dashing off...... remamber I'm the F t man at the back.

only joking !!! but Loughton to Thirsk via the controls can be about 240 miles, haven't done any real route plotting yet, just mulling ideas! From BC to Brampton - of course going over Yad Moss, just to do a recce so i know how fast to come back down it on the return. There will be no dashing, just a gentle bimble at 22-23mph, but if anyone (including me) can't keep up then it is tough, get jeft behind!

Hate to do this but 7am start is way oversubscribed, Lee and i have just changed it to 6:45am. We are also going to camp at Debden House on Sat' night so only a short ride to start. Then leaving tent either at start or at Warekiwi's house on Sunday morning - 5 minute detour off route.

Details about numbers (interim) were posted on the YACF (forum) and also the Face Book LEL page! You have until 31 March to change your mind. http://yacf.co.uk/forum/index.php?board=76.0" rel="nofollow - http://yacf.co.uk/forum/index.php?board=76.0 Let us know about your Barnard Castle recce. I have vague memories of riding around that area when i lived up that way, can't remember climbs being too bad, but i was young fit and on a light bike then!

what you guys doing about bagdrops?
|
Posted By: Yanto
Date Posted: 16 March 2013 at 1:11pm
|
tbh i haven't thought about bag drops, but probably thirsk, maybe pocklington, only a few clothes and maybe some gogo juice powders. Problem is that bags will only be returned to loughton after controls close, so anything you want to return might mean you waiting at loughton for bags. I might just put stuff in that are consumable.

GD - you might not get any recce around Barnard Castle over Easter. A lot of the minor roads are currently closed due to snowdrifts and the weather doesn't look like warming up any time soon...

It's grim even down here... I was supposed to be doing the Iain Rennie Hospice 75 mile ride today but it's been cancelled - They couldn't even get down some of the lanes to put the direction signs out...

We live a couple of miles from the Middlecot School at Kirton, so if you need anything taking or bringing away from there just ask. Hoping that I'll be there with Sam to see you all so if you need any support in our area you can just ring us.

Can't remember what drops I put, I did it ages ago! but tbh I think I will carry everything with me! As for riding, that is tough GD, I don't supposed you'll be interested to read that I have just come from an 820mile ride to Germany (and back- obviously)... Feeling as fit as a fiddle and because of the riding company I was keeping it was pretty fast riding too!

it happens when you go plying in the woods but riding in general is/has gone well, on my 5am 30mile ride using using the df I just roll at 17mph av, the longer rides not as fast but still within reason. I'll be rolling out my refit Quattro after this two week leg rest, see where he takes me!!! I'll start with loops of the Cheshire flats before heading fo them there hills.....
very interested to hear and Cool, so you have a towing eye on the back of you quest? what pace have we to set to keep up with you?
cheers G

Towing eye! haha!! Don't know about speed, I will go at what feels comfortable knowing it's a long way! I guess flat cruising at 23mph, but then there isn't much flat!
|
Posted By: graydog
Date Posted: 03 May 2013 at 8:21am
ok thing thats do-able. There are some nice flat bits, like most the first bit after te little bump. 23mph will give, what 17-18av. so Scotland for breakfast monday!!!
