I seem to remember from last year, that there was a difficulty getting the top access gates unlocked, which was the only way the hand cyclists could access the track. Would it be a good idea to give the Rhyl track 'warden' a reminder to have the keys for these readily available? We may have three or more hand cyclists coming to Rhyl.

Cheers,
Alan B.

Thanks for the reminder, Alan. I'll be calling Marsh Tracks early next week to confirm arrangements so I'll mention it then.

Proposed format for Rhyl will be 2 x 30 minute races one each way round the track.

Approximate timetable:-

10 ish I'll set up sign on probably in the track reception area, this is slightly remote from the actual circuit

Anticlockwise practice

11.30 Slow race anticlockwise 30 minutes plus one lap

12.15 Fast race anticlockwise 30 minutes plus 1 lap

LUNCH + clockwise practice time

1.30 Slow race clockwise 30minutes plus one lap

2.15 Fast race clockwise 30 minutes plus one lap

Points will be split 33% first race 67% second race - this will test to see if anybody tactically saves something in the first race for the higher points in the second.

I will be bringing the whole family so the 10ish start is very much "ish".

All requests for alternative formats / points / timings  will be willingly entartained if accompanied by a post volunteering to take over responsibilities as organisator.

Sounds like a plan indeed, tactical racing could be quite an interesting sight.

I'm not sure if I'll be cycling or getting the train yet (depends on weather / laziness) so a later race start like this is much appreciated.

Including the tactic of riding your opponents off the track in the first race to make sure they don't compete in the second Evil Smile!

I would definitely recommend that anybody who didn't come along last year gives this track a go, even though it's a long way from everywhere other than Rhyl!

Fantastic track... Probably the best one we race on in my humble opinion...

Please could those with the stopwatches and laptop confirm that they will be at Rhyl Marsh Tracks on Sunday? I will bring a copy of the race software with me but if the laptop can be set up ready beforehand then so much the better. Please also print off a set of sign-on sheets.

We have the track booked from 10:00am but should be OK to assemble in the carpark earlier. I have arranged for the access ramp to the track to be opened ready for handcycles and anyone else who prefers not to lug their machine up the hill.

Weather looks good: 12deg and 7mph by 11am according to the http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2639409" rel="nofollow - BBC .

Getting excited already... Big smile

Did the three stopwatches that disappeared after Shrewsbury turn up in the end??

Andrew

I have laptop, flags, bell, stop watches (still minus the 3 missing at end of Shrewsbury), clock, etc.  I've had a play with the software both at Shrewsbury with Nick and then at home later so think I can manage the software - what do I need off your copy of the software?

I don't know how to print off the sign on sheets basically because I haven't looked for that, is there any hints before I try at home this evening.

Weather, traffic and family permitting we should be there for about 10ish.

Hi Barney,

Andrew will (hopefully) have the latest version of the software, updated after Shrewsbury with the current championship standings and membership list....

I've just added you to the race organiser's group on the main web site so you should now be able to access it if you want to download the latest version...

I've also emailed it to you just in case...

Sign-on sheets can be printed from a button on the spreadsheet... Just need to scroll down on the opening page to find it...

Thanks for sorting Barney's access, Alan.

For the record:
  • You should always start with the latest version of the race software before a race, rather than any file you find on the laptop. The latest version contains the final results of the previous race together with any fixes and changes made by Kevin.

  • The latest software is kept on the http://www.bhpc.org.uk/race-organisers-area.aspx" rel="nofollow - Race Organisers Area in the 'Community' section of the website. Click 'Get Current Software here'. You need a username and password for the Race Organisers Area which Alan can sort out for you.

  • To prepare the software for a race:
  1. Choose the circuit (all the venues and dates for a season are already there)
  2. Delete all the racers (still there from the previous race)
  3. Print out signon sheets
I usually bring a copy of the latest software with me in case any of the above fails, but I may be late or not there at all so downloading is always best.

A sick casette means I'll not be 'feelin the smooth' of Rhyl! Cry Need  a special ICE tool to fix. So have a great time and I hope to see you in Preston/Lancaster.

I will be interested to learn if there is much of a public presence at Rhyl, because the Wales Daily Post ran an article about the event a few days ago.

Regards,

Alan

OK Boys and girls time to start the debate.

Due to severe user incompetence I can not sort the first race into two separate fields and can only get a combined results table but have managed the second race into the two fields.

Any issues please shout up!

Andrew - can you PM me a real e-mail address and then I can send you the full set of results, I'll have one last go at splitting the fields but most people should be able to work from this.

Thank you to all who helped out and I have to say the new watch system appears to work well, at least in my opinion.

Thanks for the great organisation once again, a smmoth operation all round.

For results, looks like I've dropped a lap from the first race. I spent that race trying to chase Joe back after he dropped me earlier on.

Finally, I don't remember being lapped by Andrew Harrington in the first race, and I'm sure he only pulled one lap out on me in the second race.

OK after some online tutorial work by the wonderful Excel guru that is Kevin I've managed to split race 1 so the results can be seen race by race.

So far queries are Paul Goodwin (probably undercounted by 1 lap in race 1, no effect on results) and two bike swaps to be recorded for Sarah and Graham - all three amendments will be attempted in the next set of results.

Any other queries please shout up then I can close the file and get things away into the magic of the web.

Graham - I'll PM you a list of what cash you should have later.
