Any news on the format for these events please?

Also is anybody available to provide First Aid cover?

I'll discuss formats for Lancaster with Jon & Anne later this week, probably tomorrow.  If not then, it will be Saturday so expect an announcement no later than Sunday.  Most probable format is standard-type races and a Devil.

For what times do we have the track booked?

Hi folks, following a couple of years away and spectating at Shrewsbury I think it's about time I ventured out on to the track again to see if I can make myself feel sick again (probably a lot easier now as I'm even less fitterer than I used to be).
So I'm getting the trike ready for Lancaster and Preston but can't for the life of me remember what my race number used to be, I think it was 153 or possibly 135 or it's quite likely to be nothing like either of those.  I'm sure I've asked this before, in the dim and distant past, but a search isn't throwing anything up and I've looked through all the photos I can find but nothing with my number on.  Does anybody out there know what my race number is please.

Ta

Hi Martin -

According to Mnemo the Memory Man you were no 135 when you last raced. However this number has since been used (by Ewa Zielinska at Hillingdon since you were about to ask) so I'm afraid you will need to choose a new one. Probably best to do it at sign-on in Lancaster, but I could pre-assign one if you need to make numbers beforehand.

Thanks Andrew, if you could assign me a new number that would be great.  That way I could make up some number plates (which might be legible) rather than resorting to felt tips and fag packets LOL

Any further news on what the races are likely to be?
BBC weather forecast is looking promising... I suggest you avoid looking at Metcheck... Big smile

Just to confirm that the race format for Lancaster will be:

40 mins +1 lap in two heats (or more if numbers require) for 70% of points
Devil.   All riders start together.  Riders are pulled out after the first full lap and then on every half lap.  30% of points

Do we have an organiser for Preston??
Steve is down as assisting but nobody is listed as main organiser yet...

I'm sorry to say that I'm going to have to bow out from Preston for a close friend's stag do in Northern Ireland... that's my whole weekend racing gone. At least my imminent move south will make the rest of the race calender easier for me to reach.

After consultation with Alan it would seem that the task of running an event should be within my capabilities so I am prepared to run the day at Preston on Sunday. I will however need the help of some of the faithful to help with the some running of the day.

How about no 83? That's the first/lowest available number. Other numbers are available but unless you have a violent dislike of 83 it would take a long time to list them all.

Adrian: Please can you allocate 83 to Martin Lucy in the sign-on sheet?

Random question now, but does anyone happen to have a stelvio / durano / etc in 451 sizing they could bring along to Lancaster at all?
I ordered a tyre last Friday from Rob & Carol and completely missed that they aren't processing orders until the 27th.

I have a brand new 28-451 Durano that you can have. Will bring it at the weekend.

Looks like there's no trains running from Preston to Lancaster after 6.30 am or so, as a result I'll probably be in Lancaster for about 7ish. Anybody have any recommendations for decent cafes for breakfast, etc?

Many thanks to all te organisers and helpers today.
I really like the track and the surroundings but the local morons make me doubt whether we should be going there again. The shopping trolley was a new one, but the dog walkers were also a disaster waiting t happen.
Maybe look at doubling Rhyl with Preston next year?

See you all tomorrow at Preston (those that aren't here on the camp site!)

I agree that the Lancaster circuit, while entertaining to ride, also has too many unwanted "entertainments" in the form of local lowlife and aggressive dog walkers with IQs on a par with their pets. We expect, but cannot enforce, sensible behaviour while races are in progress; by the time the cavalry in the form of the sports centre's staff arrive on scene it could be too late.

Preston has none of these problems. A double header with Rhyl sounds like an excellent weekend to us.

We had a jolly good time, anyway. Thanks to all who contributed to our excellent weekend Oop North. Travelling home to Shropshire instead of London is a great deal easier, too Smile

Our thanks to the organisers too - both days went very smoothly, which is especially commendable considering it was, I believe, the first race John Relton has organised.

A great weekend both on and off the track, apart from the traffic on Friday, but then, we were adding to it, so we can't really complain...

Really enjoyed today racing at Preston, thanks to Graham and family in "dabus" for coming out of their way to meet me.
GPS says 27.7mph for 15 min Sprint, and 26mph for 1hr race.
Including 33 miles out, 30 miles back I think that's a respectable day.
Should have race videos sorted soon :)

We now know the secret of Mike Burrows amazing speed ... the effects of his top secret drink on Fraser were pretty remarkable!
Never seen anyone look so drunk after a bottle of sports drink and then charge round the track like a man possessed!

Here are the results from Lancaster - I'm afraid watching David Bowie on iPlayer just seemed so much more attractive than posting results by the time we got home last night.

I've added a lap to Paul Goodwin's results in Round 1, as I think was requested by Adrian, but please let me know if this doesn't look right to anyone:
