Next event is at Stourport on 20th July... a week on Saturday.

No organiser for this one yet... If nobody else comes forward I'll do it and it will be 30 minutes in each direction...

So if you want to do anything other than that you know what to do... Wink

I'll give you a hand - nice race format!

Thanks Barney - That's sorted then...

Anybody who hasn't given the circuit a go, please come along... It's a good fun track with excellent facilities on site.

The hairpin is doable on all but the most extreme machines...

Thoroughly looking forward to Stourport again, I can echo Alan's thoughts above. Tis a great circuit with a banked hairpin plus a good clubhouse.

I'm travelling with a friend of mine who could be looking to become 'One of Us', he's mainly interested in the trikes. Is there anyone who'd be willing to let him have a ride on their trike (and if sufficient beer is involved, perhaps take part in one of the slow races on it)?

Paul,
How tall is he?
I should have my Windcheetah 6'4" number 124
and Katies 5'6" number 76
If we can shuffle things around he could enter on one of those.

Please note though we will be leaving asap after racing as we need to get back to Preston.

Hey Karl,
Rich is about 5'11" so pretty much slap bang between the two of you. Is there that much adjustment in a WC?

What time are you planning to arrive?

I should be down (not sure if racing yet or not) so can do 1st aid if needed.

Daft question? do you need to still be a qualified first aider?
Only reason I ask is I was a first aider trained but the qualification has slipped by a number of years.

Paul,
To answer what time we will be turning up;
About 10 - 10:30 depending on traffic.

Ideally anybody giving first aid should be qualified as there could potentially be problems otherwise if anything were to go wrong...

Stourport Race Format:

Registration/Sign-on will close at 11:00AM...

Assuming we get a reasonable turnout the field will be split into two...

11:30am: "Slow" race - 30 minutes + 1 lap Clockwise
12:15pm: "Fast race - 30 minutes + 1 lap Clockwise

1:30pm: "Slow" race - 30 minutes + 1 lap anticlockwise
2:15pm: "Fast" race - 30 minutes + 1 lap anticlockwise.

Points will be awarded equally for clockwise and anticlockwise races...

Results will be available on Sunday evening as I won't be home until then (camping over and going to the pedal car race in Solihull on Sunday...)

Hi,

Just joined the club (minutes ago so no membership number yet..) and I'd like to pop along on Saturday to see whats going on. I'm thinking of popping my trike in the boot with the possibility of having a go as it were. I have a couple of questions though.

First, what is the entry fee for club members, and will I be eligible for race entry yet ?

Secondly, I'm a disabled rider on an Ice Sprint 26 and would like to know if disabled riders are eligible and if so how 'Slow' is the slow class LOL

Thanks in advance,

Ed

Hi Ed,

I've just changed your forum status to "BHPC Member" so you should be able to see the member's areas of the forum now...

You will be more than welcome at Stourport (and all the other events...).

Race entry for members is £7.

EVERYBODY is welcome to take part - The only exception would be on safety grounds but I don't think it's ever been a problem.

We generally have a wide range of speeds at our events and I'm sure you'll be fine...
You'll need to put some numbers on the front and sides of your trike and you'll need a chainguard so there are no pointy bits sticking out...

Would you like a number allocated before the event??

See you there!

Alan

See you there!

Hi Alan,

Thanks for sorting my forum status out.

Glad you mentioned the chain guard. Something to fabricate tomorrow..

As far as number allocation is concerned, if possible, can i have 619 please. That way if I end up upside down, people will still know it's me... If not, any random one will do.

Thanks,

Ed

Hi Ed,
I don't think the numbers currently go that high on the race spreadsheet... We can do 93, 98 or 99 if any of those appeal??

Welcome Ed - I believe I spoke to you on the phone earlier this evening. If you're bringing a trike then please join in the racing - I very much doubt you'll regret it!

Looking forward to it, so see you all Saturday.

Can't wait to see John's very neat looking full fairing Thumbs Up

Assuming that there is more trike room in a Transit than there was in the pallet-shaped van we hired last time, I'll be there with the Munzo tilting trike. And if it won't fit in with Judith's Micro, I'll be spannering between races and will ride the Micro again.

I hope you've all been doing lots of triking since last time... me, I've had 350 miles of training towing a heavy trailer round Brittany Evil Smile

I have been doing my bit of tr*!!*!g too. In my case dragging an old bloke over the Pyrenees to Madrid! I was hoping it would improve my fitness to the extent that I might race the Sunrider at Stourport. In reality, I'm so knackered, that I can't lift the canopy to get in! So, I'll be doing my usual White Rabbit impression at the back of the slow race. (Ed - welcome - I'll be riding an ICE too...)

Apparently the wedding which was due to break out in the Sports Centre during our last race has been cancelled. A pity for the bride but it means we should have much-needed access to the showers.

Anyone fancies a ride down from mine (and back again) is welcome.

I'm noodling down about 45km each way, still not sure about racing.

forecast is slightly cooler than it has been here this week, 24c and a breeze.

Having, last night, ignored medic's "no lifting" rule, I'm confined to the Somerset 'Naughty Couch' this weekend, with back spasmsCry. I hope Stourport provides good racing and the slightly cooler weather suits....

Sorry to hear that Alan - get well soon!!
By the way, I had a call from a Derbyshire newspaper yesterday, trying to sell me advertising for the Darley Moor race!!
I explained what we do and they have agreed to give us a free listing in their "What's On" section!!

I was driving so couldn't write and I can't remember the name of the paper unfortunately!

Could have been the Derby Telegraph, who have the lion's share of county's readership, but could also have been Buxton Advertiser; Ripley & Heanor News or Ashbourne News Telegraph. However they (plus a few more locals) have all received Press packs.......

Thanks for a virtuoso display of organisating, Alan. Anybody would think you had done it before!

We hope that Giovanni isn't feeling too beaten up after his tumble, and will be back in action soon...

Well done the "newbies" - we'll see you again before long, we hope And congratulations to Jeff James on mastering the notorious Cobra!

I have a quibble, but not about my results. Leo was in front of me throughout the first race; both his and my lap counts appear correct, so I wonder if our times have been swapped by a transcription error?

Nice one ! Thoroughly enjoyed the event. Thanks. With most things I like to take positives from my experiences. In this case I have proved that I can be consistent and I can find myself easily in the timesheets LOL

Hope to see ya all in the next one.

Alan,
The results or race 2 look wrong. I had the same number of laps as Ian Fardo. I was certainly ahead of Ian Perry and I believe that Ian Fardo was as well.

Thanks and vey well organised.

Fards' average speed was reduced because he slowed dramatically on what turned out to be the last lap having sprinted with you the lap before.
We had said we thought you had 2 laps to go when it turned out to be 3 as Andrew came round just before 30 minutes was up.
Apologies for that.
I've only got the Blackberry here but I will change your laps to 16 when I get home tomorrow night.
Unfortunately we had a lack of timers/lap counters for the last race as many people disappeared so some of those left ended up trying to run three stopwatches.

I still can't get my head around going uphill faster in the quest than downhill. 27mph up 23 down..
And Neil doing the opposite on his nocom.
Would be quite a quick track if they got rid of those pesky hairpins!
Our sprint on the last lap that wasn't, was 36mph for the record.
which might explain why I lost so much rubber going into the corner, but also why I really couldn't be bothered to repeat it again.
Riding home hurt!

Seconded! Not only superbly organised but surely the first time the results have been posted online before most people had even left the track. Many thanks to Alan, Leo and everyone else who made it possible. Thanks also to all the new faces who came along - I hope you had a great day and will come again soon.

The Stourport Sports Centre staff are the best we see all year. Despite all the new tracks planned for next year this is definitely one we should keep in the calendar.

Definitely!!

I'm just wondering if we could double it up with a race at Solihull (assuming we could get around the insurance issue...)
That's another great track although I wouldn't recommend the camp site I stayed on last night I'm afraid!

Are there any more Stourport Quibbles before I send the sheet to Kevin (above quibbles already noted of course...)

Many thanks for all your work Alan. I love this circuit - it's a great leveller. A shame that teething issues with the bike meant I couldn't make the most of it.

Jon Coulson said how much he enjoyed the track as well and he was certainly going very well, especially considering the amount of beer we drank the night before...

Yeah...great job Alan
This is a love it/hate it track for me .....love the haipins ....hate the hill ...especially with the wind in my face too. The hill seemed to get steeper as Nick M would breeze past me up it. It took some serious cornering at the clubhouse and lung busting effort into the wind and up the d@m hill to get him to quit doing that
I did at least prove that I could get the streamliner around the track in between races ....but it did feel awfully slow.
