Does that mean Scunthorpe is off Andrew?

Unfortunately yes - please see http://forum.bhpc.org.uk/get_last_post.asp?TID=5039" rel="nofollow - post in '2014 Scunthorpe' thread and https://www.facebook.com/events/565867130194203/" rel="nofollow - Facebook Events page for details.

My apologies for the short notice, caused by the late-running of building work at Quibell Park.

Can somebody with access to membership data please get a message to Chris the new raptobike rider who started this year he was intending to come to Scunthorpe, and had asked about shadowing me as race organiser so he could understand the timing mthods, but I have no contact details for him.

Not sure if he is on the web/forum as like Mr Burrows he lives somewhere in the higher altitudes of Norfolk.

Thanks

Barney

I'm just wondering if we should mailshot members given the short notice...

If people could spread the word to anyone they think may not see this or Facebook that would be helpful...

Following the cancellation of the BHPC race at Scunthorpe, our "Fun Race" event at Curborough has been upgraded to a full BHPC points race...
We are still intending to run some fun races and these will now be free of charge as the track hire fees will be covered by the BHPC event...

Hi Barney

Yes, I've been following the discussions. shame about Scunthorpe (I was looking forward to something that didn't require any cornering skills).

I'll shadow you at Curborough instead.....

Thanks
Chris

Chris, judging by the number of people who've come a cropper Pinch ! on those things that aren't supposed to be corners you might like to reconsider whether cornering skills are required or not LOL

For those not fully aware the Curborough event is the day after a pedal car race at the circuit so if anybody wants to they can arrive anytime on Saturday and camp over free of charge - facilities are limited to flushing toilets, no showers.

Lucky I did a rare-ish login!  Would've been a dull old day at Scunny for me.
Admit, I should have an RSS feed on BHPC.
FB didn't seem to alert me.

Howard - You would have been caught by the mailshot which is going out to all members this weekend. I did half the membership list yesterday (alphabetically by surname) and the second half will go out later today. Unfortunately because of your name you will always be the last to know.

Do the Organisers have any idea of a programme yet? It would save some time on the day if I can set up the races in the software beforehand.

I'll consult with Barney - We had originally planned fun races - Maybe something similar to last year (short race on the short circuit and longer one on the full circuit)?
I'd skip the time trial in favour of some fun races.
The TT seem to produce a lot of crashes last year as well!

Right then:

We need to allow time to fit in the promised fun races so the BHPC points races will be as follows:

Race 1: "Slow" Race - 15 Minutes + 1 lap Anticlockwise on the short circuit

Race 2: "Fast Race" - 15 Minutes + 1 lap Anticlockwise on the short circuit

Race 3 - "Slow" Race - 30 Minutes + 1 lap Anticlockwise on the full circuit

Race 4 - "Fast" Race - 30 Minutes + 1 lap Anticlockwise on the full circuit

Pardon me for sticking my oar in but anticlockwise does that not make the bottom hairpin a bit scary as last time did we not race clockwise on the full circuit for this reason, just asking !.

Ya big jessy!  you should be petrified on every corner, then you know you are going just fast enough.

LOL

The hairpin is much more interesting going anticlockwise - apex late and straighten the exit (and don't blame me if you crash Ouch)!

I've only ever raced it anticlockwise but happy to go with the majority. At Curborough now. Just finished setting up for the pedal car race. There is now a cut-through by the chicane that we may use for some of the fun races. :o)

There is a fairly large pothole on the hairpin - We'll make a decision on whether to race on that section or just use the top circuit later this morning.
Weather looks good. Just about to crawl out of sleeping bag. :o)
Come on down folks!

These are the provisional results for Round 1 (the 15-min races).
In Race 2 (the faster race) Andy Trisconi-Smith wasn't given the bell, or indeed the chequered flag, and so completed one more lap (19) than he should have done. Therefore his time for 18 laps is calculated from his time for 19 laps.

Something looks funny with the mph calcs there - I was about 25mph in the first race and 23.5mph in the second - do you want me to see if I can get the track length from my gps?

For the second race looks like I have on lap more that I should have. I finish just after Chris Hamilton.
And the lap length is according to my GPS 0.77miles.

Many thanks to Barney "Megaphone" Harle for doing most of the organising and for going out of his way to help out the Apollo/Swebbelli guys after the race... What a thoroughly nice bloke he is... (for a northerner...)

Great fun in the pedal car race yesterday and good to see some BHPC folks joining in with that and enjoying themselves... Barney, Ian Perry and Fards all giving it a go... I'm sure Barney will be along soon to tell you about lapping me twice in one stint... I've got a nasty feeling it will be a while before I hear the last of that one!!!

Good to see some of the pedal cars staying over to play today as well... A couple of very close finishes for Chris Featherstone!!

Nice pictures Jeff - would higher resolution ones be available for the magazine?

BTW, did Mike ask any of you to write a report of the Curborough event? Would anyone like to volunteer while the occurrences are still fresh in your mind?

Only one more Class Championship was settled at Curborough and modesty isn't going to stop me reporting what it was. Previously the known knowns were:
  • Open: Steve Slade
  • Ladies: Fiona Grove
  • Ladies Part-Faired: Fiona Grove
  • Street: Geoff Bird
  • Multitrack: Karl Sparenberg
to which we can now add:
  • Unfaired: Andrew Sidwell
Which means that four Classes will only be decided after the last race of the season at Hillingdon:
  • Part-Faired
  • Sports
  • Multitrack Faired
  • Junior
