Just a word about the new way to pay for the Dartford Crossing(s) QE2 bridge or tunnel if going to Fowlmead from oop norf.

There is no way to pay the toll at the bridge/tunnel.

One has to either pre-pay on the Government web site, or pay within I think 48 hrs of the crossing or you will be fined!

Good warning - not been that way for a loooong time as usually head off road of misery (M25) before to go to Sunny Sauufeennd to see the rest of the clan. :-)

And if you think of using a smart phone i am not sure there is signal at fowlemead so best to do so nearer civilisation over dinner in one of the nearby towns or at service station near the bridge.

For those that do not wish to register on a government website to pay for a bridge that has already been paid for then there is this alternative that can be used when visiting Fowlmead. That is to cross after 10:00pm or before 6am which is free as described on one of the payment websites:

Before you start

The https://www.gov.uk/dartford-crossing-fees-exemptions-penalties" rel="nofollow - crossing charge depends on your vehicle and account type.

Charges apply between 6am and 10pm.

You must pay by midnight the day after you cross.

You can get a https://www.gov.uk/dart-charge-local-resident-discount" rel="nofollow - resident’s discount if you live in Thurrock or Dartford.
