Hi
If I have a front screen fitted do I need a chain guard as I covers the front end?
I do have one but it needs modifying to fit the new chainring.

As long as the dangerous whirling spikey bits can't hit anybody else then all is well with a front screen. A screen will probably stop your machine being classed as unfaired though.

Hi, Thanks for the reply. The screen is a windwrap on an ice trike. Does that change the class? I could see only full faired or other in multiracial.

Yes, it will be faired multi track with a front fairing, but will not need a chain guard. < id="BFI_" style="width: 1px; height: 1px; display: none;">

Ok thanks, I best take the screen off if it puts me in velomobile class. I must of read the regs wrongly.

Thanks

Then it will be Multi track and will need a chain guard. All bikes go into the open class regardless.

I never bothered about my class as I just rode my trike how I felt comfortable. Of course I always finished last in my class but I'm not a contender for any class nowadays whatever I ride.< id="BFI_" style="width: 1px; height: 1px; display: none;">

A part-faired trike should be eligible for the Part-Faired class as well as Open, Multitrack and Faired Multitrack.  There's nothing bicycle-specific about Part-Faired, it's just that you get the extra multitrack classes on account of the additional wheels.  Partial fairings are specifically allowed in Multitrack.  Indeed, last years winner of Multitrack had a rear fairing.

At least, that's how I've implemented the sign-on system.

I'm 99% sure only a rear fairing on a trike puts it part faired, front fairing is straight to multi-faired and skips part faired class completely, that is what I was told many years ago when I was messing with trike fairings.

Just to clarify you CAN run a front OR rear fairing and be classed as part faired (and multitrack).
If you run both then you're chasing Slash and the velomobiles... Good luck with that. :)

This came up several years ago as part of the lengthy discussions on Sport and Street Class.

It's almost clear in our rules...

IMHO it would be less confusing if the Multirack classes followed the same naming convention as the others.  They should really be called 'Multitrack' and 'Multitrack Part-Faired' (with the option for a 'Multitrack Unfaired' class if necessary).

Thanks all, not that I expect to be anywhere but the back but I didn't want to end up in the fastest class if I didn't have too!
