Anyone know if there any arrival time restrictions for camping on the Saturday night? Was wondering if we could arrive at any time or just between certain hours. Thanks

Darley Moor is gated from memory. Hence depends on if these are unlocked on Saturday or other event taking place then? No doubt others can confirm?

There is nothing listed on their website for the Saturday (but they don't list us for the Sunday and Monday either so no idea if there is actually anything going on).
I would say don't arrive until after 5pm unless we can get confirmation that we are allowed in before then.
Last year I got there at 5ish and found a chap who opened the gate for us.
No problem with arriving fairly late... We'll be having the usual wild party/orgy in the pits until at least 9pm... Wink

I will let them know that folks will arrive from 5pm onwards for camping on the sat, to ensure the gates are opened by then.

Hi All,
Please note that we'll be reserving the parking area nearest to the track and toilet block at Darley Moor for our handcyclists as we did last year.
Many thanks.

Unfortunately owing to illness the electronic timing system will not be available at Darley Moor this weekend.

We shall continue with the race programme as advertised but all timing will now be done manually with video backup. There will inevitably be a delay in publishing the results which are likely to come out a few days after the event rather than the usual few hours.

There is a small possibility that there will be no results at all for some riders, particularly if we are unable to identify your race number easily.  You can help to minimise this risk by making sure you have large, clear numbers (ideally A5-sized) on the front and both sides of your machine. If you haven't yet been allocated a race number then please bring blank number boards and something to mark them with you to Darley Moor.

If you decide you would rather not race than risk having no results then please contact the Treasurer ( mailto:treasurer@bhpc.org.uk?subject=Darley%20Moor%20refund%20request" rel="nofollow - treasurer@bhpc.org.uk ) as soon as possible to arrange a refund of your registration/camping.

It looks like the club first aid kit may also not make it to Darley (its packed up with the timing kit). I have a smallish first aid kit I can bring with me, but to be on the safe side if anyone else attending happens to have one, could you please bring it with you. Hopefully it won't be needed, but if it is BHPC will be able to reimburse for any bits from it that need to be used.

Please email me compsec@bhpc.org.uk to let me know if you are able to bring one with you.

If we need people to count laps for others whilst they are on the track, would be worth also bringing a pen. I have a few, but not enough to furnish the 50 odd riders we have racing over the weekend.

Thanks

Chris

The results from http://www.bhpc.org.uk/Data/Sites/1/media/events/events21/08darley_moor/index.html" rel="nofollow - Sunday's races and the http://www.bhpc.org.uk/Data/Sites/1/media/events/events21/09darley_moor/index.html" rel="nofollow - 2-hour race on Monday are now available on the BHPC website.

A mulfanction of the timing system on Sunday meant that we don't have finish times for the following in the first (slower) 4-lap race. Their times are instead taken from the first four laps of the 45-min race:
  • David Griffiths
  • Gerry Charlwood
  • Steven Marsh
  • Andy Forey
  • Alan Goodman
  • Dan Bergonzi
If any of these have their own times (e.g from Garmins) then please let me know via the Forum and I'd be happy to update the results.

Results from Monday's 1-lap time-trial will follow later.

I finished almost side by side with Dan Bergonzi (on the video I posted earlier) and we were both just ahead of Neil Hood.
My Strava thinks I averaged 20.4mph (Garmin said 20.6)

Dave Griffiths, Gerry Charlwood and Steven Marsh were in front of me. Andy Forey was behind I think.

Thanks Alan - do you have an actual finish time for yourself? I have a time of 16:39 for Neil Hood (which may, of course, be completely wrong) and your Strava time says 16:50.

Not an accurate one unfortunately as I didn't stop my Garmin until after I finished

OK, let's say 16:35.00 for you and 16:35.10 Dan Bergonzi - looks to me like you got it by about a crank-length on the line.

The points tables for the Darley Moor races on http://www.bhpc.org.uk/Data/Sites/1/media/events/events21/08darley_moor/darley_moor_1.html" rel="nofollow - Sunday and http://www.bhpc.org.uk/Data/Sites/1/media/events/events21/09darley_moor/darley_moor_2.html" rel="nofollow - Monday are now available, together with the current http://www.bhpc.org.uk/Data/Sites/1/media/events/events21/BHPC_2021.html" rel="nofollow - Championship Table .

Are there races that are double counted in the championship table? For example, it looks like I have got 10002 points out of 9000 available in the partly faired classification, which is unexpected.

Looks like Andrew's updated it and forgotten to set a points structure for the Darley events, so each round is getting a full 1000 points (which is what SeriesMgr will default to if you change the input file for whatever reason).  No doubt he'll fix it when he sees this post.

I think there are some other Darley anomalies. Andy Forey finished ahead of me in every Darley race. I get points in all relevant race categories but Andy doesn’t get points in some relevant categories, which confuses me.

Kim's right - I forgot to apply the scaling factor to each race before publishing the Championship tables. However I need to check with the race organiser what the relative weights of each race should be before I republish the tables.

The categories someone competes in are determined by the online registration form not by the organisers (unless there are some obvious anomalies like someone claiming to be Unfaired and turning up with a velomobile). Andy Forey didn't claim any categories in his registration so only got points in Open class.

In the days of turn-up-and-signon we were able to clarify questions about classes at registration. Now we have to rely on the information given in the online form.

I think John Greed probably no longer qualifies for unfaired multitrack in the Aquilla... Wink

The other strange thing is that the system doesn't seem to be able to handle a tie - In the one lap TT Ian and Liam have exactly the same time and average speed but it's split them into second and third...

If you click 'Show 100s of seconds' (which should, of course, be '100ths of seconds') you'll see that Ian's time is 2:58.28 and Liam's is 2:58.32, hence why Ian is 2nd and Liam 3rd. Of course it's not possible to photo-finish a time trial so e-timings are somewhat subject to tag placement, but that's what the antennas saw.

CrossMgr doesn't really understand ties, and will tend to allocate a finish order based on the precision it has (which is greater than that displayed in the results, and usually nonsense - the RFID system isn't much good below about half a second - CrossMgr supports a camera at the finish line to determine precise finish order, but I suspect our creaky old laptop isn't up to the amount of data that would produce), but if the times are actually identical (eg. manual entry, or copied from another rider) they seem to get an order based whichever entry was made in the database first or something.

SeriesMgr, on the other hand, copes with ties just fine; if two riders have the same finishing position in the input data, they get the same number of points.

My race-combining tool (which includes all the processing needed to give DNF riders a finishing position - another thing CrossMgr doesn't support) has to re-calculate the finish order, and should give riders with the same finish time the same place, but I can't vouch for it not having as-yet-undiscovered bugs.  However, we wouldn't normally need to run time trial results through this.

I must take more care with my name. I currently occupy positions 36, 42 and 59 in the championship tables.

Hmm... I'll take a look at this. I thought riders were identified by number, not by name.

The points for both http://www.bhpc.org.uk/Data/Sites/1/media/events/events21/08darley_moor/bhpc-darley-moor-1-2021.html" rel="nofollow - Sunday's and http://www.bhpc.org.uk/Data/Sites/1/media/events/events21/09darley_moor/bhpc-darley-moor-2-2021.html" rel="nofollow - Monday's races have now been revised with the correct weighting factors (50% of the points for each race, both days).

Also some classes have been fixed: John Greed is no longer in Unfaired Multitrack; Gerry Charlwood was in GST's velo for Sunday's 45-min race so moves from Part-faired to Multitrack Faired.
