The Young Lady is looking at hooking up her ICE Micro to a turbo trainer over winter. The trike has powermeter pedals and she wants to use Zwift, etc. to avoid terminal boredom. The low-slung Micro easily gets drowned through winter puddles and I want to avoid having to replace cables and gear components every week.

No doubt somebody has already investigated what trainers are compatible with a 355 or 349 rear wheel. My guess is that any ‘wheel off’ trainer suitable for a QR rear wheel will work, if the front wheels are propped up enough to keep the Trice level. Please let me know if you’ve found otherwise.

Are there any ‘wheel on’ trainers that would work?

Anybody selling off a suitable piece of kit, as an alternative to buying new?

I'm not sure that all trainers will work. I've got my Trice XL (20inch wheels) on an Elite Drivo II. As you say, the front wheels need to be propped up (sitting on some crates that hold them about a foot off the ground) - but without those the frame fouls the trainer, so putting it on is a bit tricky as it needs the front end on boxes then get the trainer lined up behind without it falling off the boxes. The trainer is quite wide towards the front and sticks out surprisingly far, so I ended up taking the parking V brake caliper off the drive side; releasing it wasn't quite enough. Had to remove the mudguard too, though the rear rack can stay on.

Smaller wheels would obviously make that all a bit tighter.

In the absence of evidence before now, sometime this week we will find out if a SH Wahoo Kickr Core has clearance problems. Wish me luck.

Good afternoon.
I have been using a set of SportCrafters rollers for many years for winter training and warming up. They have a few levels of resistance which you get by playing around with which you run on them. They are a good solid bit of kit that will see my life out.
I got them from Draft Wheelchairs along with good advice. They specialise in all sorts of goodies for disabled athletes and the website is well worth visiting just for a casual browse.
I was amazed how much of what they sell could be used to get over the myriad recumbent problems.
