The cycle circuit at Ennerdale has its own parking area right next to the track which will be opened for us on Sunday. I have put a plan showing where to go on the https://www.bhpc.org.uk/race-day/" rel="nofollow - Race Day page .

We have access to the track from 11:00am to 4:00pm on Sunday (this may be different from some earlier information you may have seen). A triathlon group may be using the car park until about 10:00am and the main Leisure Centre car park is likely to be very busy all day with a swimming gala.

If you can't find the plan on Race Day then look for these gates on the far right of the car park:

(The double gates to the parking area will be open on Sunday!)

Any help with organisation at York and Hull this weekend would be much appreciated.  Herding the riders, ringing the bell, waving the flag etc would all be very helpful. Just find Heather at the track.

Thank you

I was unable to race this weekend because of a tummy bug but watched events unfold on the live race stream. Having never been to the Hull circuit I am glad to see it is a fast one. Hope you all had a good time. can't wait for any photos and videos.

Agreed, the track did wonders for my cornering confidence.

Yep, a good track - not quite Rhyl levels of goodness, but pretty fine with two challenging fast corners.
Thanks to Jochen and David for a great first race - Jochen’s fitness is unreal! Can’t wait to see David’s video of that race with the usual commentary :)

Anyone else get a pheasant flyby? I flushed one out on the early warm up.

No pheasant but nearly had a rabbit at the York circuit.
It ran straight across the track 10ft in front of me!
Think we could put a good stew together. What wild life does Rhyl offer?
I don't mean clubs & pubs, I'm too old and past it.

Really had a good weekend, many thanks to the organisers and helpers.

If my last time at Rhyl was anything to go by, the wildlife was mostly of the airborne insect persuasion, and the trick is timing your breathing so you don't inhale while riding through a cloud of those annoying little black fly things...

Rhyl being at the seaside, the local wildlife is more likely to eat you rather than vice-versa.  Or at least rob your chips.

The time team award for random precision goes to Gerry, who managed to average exactly 24.00000mph on his second lap in the first race.  This invoked a minor bug in CrossMgr's JSON generation, which is why that race wasn't being listed properly in the index.html.

I've fixed it in our version, and made a bug report to the original author.

First with the news -  https://www.bhpc.org.uk/race-day/" rel="nofollow - Race Day page :

To be fair the actual location of all pheasants should have been marked on the aerial pic.

We'd have to grab them and fit them with timing tags first...

(I got a pheasant on the way to my friend's near Skegness after the race, but in an uncharacteristic display of BRANEZ it decided at the last minute not to play chicken with the Toyota.)

Next time, we should add 'dehydration' to the hazards list.  What sort of sports centre doesn't have a water tap?

Kudos to them for spelling “its” without an apostrophail but yarbles to their lack of a: a tap and iii) their lackadaisical attitude to H&S audits of the Pheasant Menace Wink

Meanwhile, by popular demand, I have re-calculated the results for Hull using the Shiny! New! rank-finishers-by-average-speed feature.  This means Tim now finishes ahead of Dan in the second race.

In the absence of anyone pointing out that it's gone horribly wrong, I'll be giving the rest of the 2023 results the same treatment and re-generating the points tables in due course.
