As some of you will know, Kim tested using the timing system to do 50m sprints at Darley Moor, preparing for the Worlds next year. Sprints are flying start, so with a run up, to see who can go fastest. It was mostly a success. A slight problem was that the laser beams used did not pick up some of the higher bikes. We have tape switches we hope to use instead, but they need testing. I'm wondering if we can forgo the usual 4 race format at Hillingdon and run two races plus sprints. This event is always pressed for time with the AGM to get through.

Scratch my suggestion. Kim thinks there are risks in using new stuff when we have to get season result out and endure an AGM.

Hi Kim, I'm getting a 403 Error (Forbidden Access) for the 'Times' page for Hillingdon II. No issues with the 'Points' page, or the 'Times' page of other events.

That's because they haven't been uploaded yet. There are various issues (a handful of lost lap times for various riders, What Actually Happened After The Crash, and dozens of false reads from Andy's spare helmet left behind the timing tent) that need to be worked through before they're fit for publication. There was also some sort of Exciting! New! timestamp bug pertaining to the video capture that complicates using it to resolve matters.
This may require quantities of arithmetic that are best left until I've had some sleep.
(Yes, this means the points and championship table are best considered provisional for the time being, but the top three in each category are unlikely to be affected.) Off the top of my head, it would be helpful to know who did and didn't continue after the crash. Mark Howard's lap count and finish time in the second race would be useful too, as it doesn't look like his final lap was recorded.

Dan and Sean definitely stopped after the crash. I think innocent victim Gary also stopped.

Yep, I saw Gary walking back with his trike and spoke to him after the race. We weren't so sure about the others, as everyone who knew what had happened (quite reasonably) disappeared in a flurry of first-aid.
Okay, combined results for the first fast and slow race are tidied up and published. (Managed to dis-disambiguate everything in this one using video). I'm calling it a night.

Right, I've got to the bottom of what happened to the second slow race. Basically, I pressed the wrong button: Today I learned that the "restart race" feature is *not* an undo button for a premature "finish race", but a way of performing a neutralised restart should the race be stopped due to an Incident, which causes unintuitive wrangling of the start times.
Fortunately, it was dead easy to re-construct the race from the Impinj log, at which point Geoff's missing times reappeared, and the timestamps all agreed with the video without anyone having to do any date/time arithmetic. Hurrah!
The remaining issue of Mark Howard's finish time was also resolved: It turns out that he had employed stealth bomber tactics by turning his head towards the timing tent as he crossed the finish line, neatly aligning his timing tags end-on to the aerials and ensuring the radio signal flew straight past them! Fortunately this tactic did nothing for his IR profile, as the (now drainpipe-enhanced) beam-break still captured him on video where the RFID failed.
The second fast race was flawless from a timing perspective.
I've combined and published the results, and all the photos, and updated the points tables accordingly. None of the top three places in any of the categories have changed from what was announced at the AGM yesterday.
If you see any outstanding issues, let me know.

Meanwhile, while searching for the real Andy Forey in amongst countless clips of an empty track pertaining to be Andy Forey, as well as countless high-frame-rate images of certain people's legs, crotches and flags, I came across this previously undiscovered Tarantino short, Reservoir Stopwatches featuring Mr Larrington and Chairman Al:

Sorry for my impatience Kim, assumed as the points were up then the results should be there too, so suspected some webby mischief...

Yeah, that would be my normal way of doing things, but it was all a bit of a mess trying to work out who'd won what in time for the awards with known-dodgy results that couldn't feasibly be fixed in an hour with a laptop and no brain, so I skipped some steps in the workflow on the basis that less important stuff could be sorted out later.
And yes, webby mischief is always an option. Usually it's typos in filenames (this time I merely typoed 'Hillingdon' in the series title, which doesn't actually break anything). It's the sort of thing I usually check when publishing the results properly.
Anyway, Sunday's chaos aside, I'm happy that it was all just an unfortunate accumulation of human errors, rather than yet another clock-synchronisation bug that I have to track down.

Thanks to the relevant folk for all the behind the scenes wrangling and finagling that goes on to let me ride round in circles pretending to be half-fast.
