The Young Lady’s ICE Micro has a telescoping frame to adjust seat angle. She wants the seat as flat/ fast as possible, now that she has a different recumbent for road/ touring. What is the minimum insertion of the rear frame into the front?

I ended up reclining the seat until it cleared the rear tyre by 5mm. The frame was extended by about 50mm and the end of the rear frame tube was not visible in the front frame slot. I will assume this is ok, particularly given the Young Lady’s light weight and the fairly smooth surfaces of BHPC racetracks.

The Young Lady is having problems mounting the race number on the Micro’s rear triangle (unsuspended, unlike the touring Micro currently for sale). I was looking at fettling a number bracket onto a couple of unused boltholes in outside of the ICE double-layer carbon seat. A standard M5 bidon bolt doesn’t go in and the thread looks smaller. I don’t have an M4 bolt to check.

Did ICE fit paired M4 rivnuts to the double skin carbon seat? What were these bolts originally meant for?

Try mounting the number on a rigid board (e.g. HDPE or even carbon), drill a single 5mm in it and mount on the QR skewer. This worked very well for me on a Greenspeed.

Mounting the number on carbon isn’t a great option for the associated data tags. We don’t mount tags to our helmets, to avoid bringing the wrong helmet to a race.
