Andrew - is there a problem with the webshop for sign on for Darley Moor? It's calculating £14 for one day, but £42 for 2 days!
thanks, Mark

Ian Eff has very kindly offered to organise at Darley Moor
There will be a series of short races on Day 1 and a longer (probably 2 hour) race on Day 2.
Me and Bruvver Dave should be able to assist. Planning to be there but my back went pop again yesterday so currently hobbling around - will see how that’s going and I might have a race if it’s ok…

Please note that racing on Monday will now start slightly earlier at 11:00am to allow people to get off a bit earlier into the Bank Holiday traffic. The provisional race programme is now:

Meet & Greet: 10:00
Track access: 10:30-16:00
Racing starts: 11:00

Race 1: 11:00 – 1-lap time-trial, individual
Race 2: 12:00 – 3-hour race, all riders

Good news for campers: The cafe will be open from 9:00am to serve breakfast. It usually closes around 3:00pm.

Your timing team has overheated and is not responding.  Normal results service will be resumed when we're sufficiently rested to be able to pick through video clips, perform basic arithmetic, decode our contemporaneous scribbles and indeed operate a jam-filled Babbage engine without adult supervision...

While we resolved most of Sunday's tag issues in time for today's racing, this was cancelled out by a rider with no tags, a mysterious software crash, and one of the RFID aerials being blown over in the wind.  I believe the race clock also tried to clobber Natalya at one point...

(I should add that the lack of live results was due to my phone's inability to maintain a usable cellular connection.)

On another note, did anyone see the horseists crossing the track during the 3-hour race?

Yup, I watched one of the horses prancing about regardless of what the rider was doing, so I swapped to the other side of the track and cautioned that several of the riders were very quick. They were not in my view the next lap round.

I saw them congregating behind the tyres on the north side, and assumed they had encountered a closed gate and were merely spectating.  On my next lap they were on the other side of the infield obviously planning to cross the straight, and on the next they'd crossed and were riding off into the sunset crosswind.

They crossed the track (flying club side) after I had passed, this after going through the central field full of bovines, some of which were playing mummy and daddy making babies, as a diversion from the sometimes monotony is was a welcome distraction.

For three hours, I was mostly watching the riders in front, the blacktop flowing under my front wheel, occasionally the riders coming up behind and virtually nothing beyond the track itself. If you have the brainpower to look at other stuff, are you still going flat chat?

The great advantage(!) of the Notso is you get a nice view of the scenery with occasional glimpses of other riders, a murky view of the interior, and only really get to see the track itself when you're cornering at speed...

And results for Monday are now up at  https://www.bhpc.org.uk/events/2025-races/" rel="nofollow - https://www.bhpc.org.uk/events/2025-races/

Took us slightly longer than 3 hours to sort all the missed tag reads.  In the end, there were only two not captured on video, due to the wind blowing over the aerial (which has the retroflector for the backup IR beam beam-break on it, so we didn't get any video capture during that period either).

RE Horses - yes, I did (Mark 236). There's been some discussion about them / rights of way/ signage on the FB group.

As I recall they approached from approximately the slalom side of the course (northerly?). I didn't pay much attention until I later saw them in the centre section  of the track, which made me wonder where they crossed. Later again saw them on the south (?) side of the track.

They must have crossed the live track at some stage, but I didn't see that happen.

Mark
