How are other people faring with this?  My GP wants nearly ten times as much (£98). Are there different grades of medical?  Is there some magic password that I need to give to persuade him that I only want Andrew's cursory examination.

All this, BTW, is before I get into anything relating to the being allowed to take the banned/performance-enhancing drugs* I need before violent exercise.  (I've made the required enquiry to the Allegre organisators, but to date have not had a reply.)

£11.00 here, but they pressed the wrong button, printed the invoice for a tenner and couldn't be bothered to redo. Standard 'are you alive' blood pressure and stethoscope stuff. Nothing else.

They also offered more complex medicals for divers (£44) and glider pilots (£96).

I got a more complex medical (including actually checking heart rate on an exercise bike at idle and a set load for 2mins) before they'd let me join the gym there.

Nah - had to keep the speed constant - only managed 120bmp - not even starting to get warm!!!

But it did have a saddle and handlebars - bah! So what is the point of an uncomfortable STATIONARY bike???

Bah! Make that another £11.50 - the Worlds people have changed the rules. The Rules page says the certificate has to be no more than 1 year old, but the registration statement says <3 months, and this is what they're insisting on. So any certificate dated before 4th May is no good - Disapprove. Anyone else been caught by this??

Next time you go to the gym, look outside and notice it has a carpark.

Suddenly an uncomfortable stationary bike doesn't seem like the world's silliest idea.

Hello there,

sorry for the confusion Unhappy

hold your breath a little bit more since we have a new (and cheaper!) insurance for the event and this medical certificate stuff may once again change!

the indications on the registration form has not been updated yet, but the correct statement is "no more than 1 year old". That's what happens when the rule writter, the database manager and the web master are different persons .

Since I'm there I've been asked about [medical treatment / anti-doping] issues. Provided you bring with you the official prescription from your GP, I think we won't make a fuss about the high percentage of asthmatics amongst british racersWink

Don't hesitate to mail us for any other specific query

Cheers
Marc

Do you mean we might not need a doctor's certificate at all, Marc? I was going to sort it out today - procrastination is sometimes a good policy!

It's unlikely, however we might have a french GP availaible on saturday for last minute check-ups. Needless to say you'll have to pay for this (~12Euros) and he might decide you ain't fit to race --> Cry
I'll keep you informed on this ASAP
