I would suggest we run stopwatches and tally sheets at Darley Moor as a backup... We can still run the timing system as well and give it a test...

My guess would be most of the problems at Scunthorpe were down to operator error... What we still need is more people capable of using the system.

I think I know how to run the timing system and, as co-organiser, am willing to give it a try. However after Scunthorpe I also agree with having tallies and times as a backup. The circuit is big enough that one person should be able to do it.

Please can one of the Grovebirddles make sure that all the batteries (2 x timing system + 1 x laptop) are charged up, in case we don't have the timekeepers hut at DM?

I think it will need batteries changed in the tags as well - think that may have been the problem in Scunthorpe

Fret not .....battery charging & changing was high on my to do list. I did request guidance regarding none destructive opening of the Tags, but didn't get any.
Will consult with the 'partners' tonight and if obvious will proceed.....if not, I will consult third parties.
Never believe an atom they make up everything.

If it looks like being time consuming you can bring them along to Shenington if you like - It will give us something to do in between stints in the pedal car... Smile

My memory is that there are four tiny screws securing the side of the box that isn't covered by the silver label (jeweller's screwdriver required), but I could be wrong. Please take care with the silver labels though - they were a devil Evil Smile to make.

Do you read your PMs?

It is worth looking at whether the tags are failing before you change all the batteries. Give me a ring and I'll talk you through it.

Details on race format soon but meanwhile I'd like to suggest that we try again this year to hold a bike jumble after the main racing. Now that it has stopped raining briefly, take the time to sort out those sheds and garages and make way for more useful bits that you might one day need.

We did try this last year (or maybe the year before, time goes so fast!) but got rained off. The idea would be very informal. Just bring anything you want to sell, with a price label on it and who you are and then we'll arrange an area to display said items. If you could also bring some money to buy the things others don't want but you can't do without - so much the better. If you prefer to barter and exchange items without cash changing hands - that's fine. The idea is simply to help each other out by redistributing useful items.

Any other ideas on how to make this work better, much appreciated.

Heather
