If you've heard that Quibell Park has been damaged by fire, don't worry - the track is open and usable and our booking on 7th July is going ahead. However facilities will be much reduced as this messsage I've had recently explains:

Dear customer,

Quibell Park - Demolition Work

We are writing to all our customers who have event bookings at Quibell Park Stadium to clarify what the current position is regarding the facilities and access arrangements prior to and during the demolition of the stand within the stadium.

Please be advised that although there will be some disruption within the ground, we can confirm that all event bookings will still be able to take place, however there will be limited facilities and in particular there will be no shelter areas for those children or adults participating or spectating on the day of your event.

You are more than welcome to make your own arrangements to provide portable shelters or tents if you wish, but the erection and dismantling of these will need to be carried out by your own staff, as unfortunately we will be unable to provide any additional staffing resources to assist with this on the day.

In terms of other facilities available on site, there will be one male and one female toilet block and one portacabin which may only be used for changing purposes by small groups.

Other than the above, there will be no other facilities at the ground.

Please do not hesitate to contact me on 01724 297256 should you require any further clarification or have any queries regarding the demolition work.

Yours sincerely

Andy Bagshaw
Sports Facilities Manager

Just a bump to bring this topic bubbling up the New Posts list - somewhere for discussion of the BHPC race at Quibell Park Stadium, Scunthorpe on Sunday 7th July.

This event is now only a week away and we don't have an organiser...
Lee has offered to help... Would anybody like to organise and set the race format??

Please note that the gates to the stadium will be open at 10:00am. If you aren't familiar with Quibell Park there is no parking outside the site, except on the roadside, so please try not to arrive too early.

Right then...

John and Sam Relton have kindly offered to help so we'll do this one between us...
We're keeping it simple and the races relatively short to ease the RSI on those with stopwatches... Big smile

Registration/sign-on will CLOSE at 11:00...

11:30 - Race 1: Fast race for 20 minutes +1 lap

12:15ish - Race 2: Slow Race for 20 minutes + 1 lap

13:00ish - Race 3: Fast race for 40 minutes + 1 lap

14:00ish - Race 4: Slow race for 40 minutes + 1 lap

Points will be awarded on a 3:1 split in favour of the longer race...

If anybody is still feeling keen we'll run a "Devil" just for fun...

This has been a Relton/Goodman production on behalf of www.ifyoudontlikeitorganiseityourself.com

Weather forecast is that it will be very hot (28 degrees!) so please don't forget your sun-cream and bring plenty of fluids (I don't know if there is drinking water on site).

We'll make a decision on the day depending on conditions, but we may reduce the second race from 40 to 30 minutes (as much for the comfort of timers as riders...)
