This time, we do already have volunteers to organisate, but, unless they have help, you may not all get the races you want.

I know some people are looking forward to a longer race - say 2 hours - at Fowlmead as, with Castle Combe becoming too expensive, Fowlmead is our best chance to have one.  However, the volunteers are racers and, if they're going to travel all that way, quite reasonably want to race.  Running a two-hour race means that we'll have all racers on the track at once, and therefore need non-racers to start the race, call the finish and record the finish order.  Otherwise, there will have to be two separate races, and the length will be curtailed to a maximum of about an hour and a bit.

Do we have anyone prepared to help with the organisating of that longer race?   (Or, if you would rather cover the whole event in your own, you can.)

You should have a timing system to assist you but, I won't be there to run it so you had better either learn how to use it... Evil Smile

Carolyn is coming with me and said she is happy to start/time the race. Chances are someone will get a mechanical or give up so they could write down the finish order if nobody else is around

How Do All,

Can anyone please tell me where the closest camp site for Fowlmead? address and of phone number will be handy if anyone knows.
I seem to recall it being mentioned as right next door in the track reports of LB magazine but no other info.

Thank you in advance for your time and help.
Take care,
Barry ;-)

My information from the usual suspects for Fowlmead is an intention to a scheme not dissimalar to that planned the last two years, i.e.:

Day 1
a.m. Short time-trial on the top track
p.m. Middling-length race (two heats) (45 - 60 min) - bottom track

Day 2
Longer race (2hrs) - full track

However, the last depends on logistics for running and recording the races, given that the organisators will be racing themselves (and, this being Fowlmead, on the weather).  The fallback position is two heats, longer than usual (say 1 1/4 hours), but not as long as 2 hours.
